Life Is A Beautiful Thing

This crazy school year is finally coming to an end this week.  Friday can’t get here soon enough.  Between the move and my son breaking his back, it has been a crazy overwhelming few months. I’m really looking forward to getting the rest of my craft room unpacked and tidied up.

I made a very quick card for the Paper Craft Crew design team this week.  This is one of my favorite go-to card layouts.

Stamping Imperfection Colorful Seasons

These are a few of the new In Colors for 2017-2019.  I used Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide and Fresh Fig.  The stamp set is from the Colorful Seasons set which can be purchased with the coordinating die cut at mystampingstore.com for a 10% savings if you order the bundle.  I LOVE this set.  It has something for every season so I’ll be using it all year long.  colorful seasons bundle

Isn’t the sentiment fabulous?

Here is this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch that I used as my layout…keep this one on file, you’ll use it whenever you need a quick and simple card!

I’m working on sending out catalogs this week.  I will be sending them to anyone who has ordered from me in the last year.  You will find a card kit and a link to an exclusive video class just for customers included with the catalog.

Dragonfly Dreams and Watercolor Pencils

I can’t get enough of these watercolor pencils that Stampin’ Up! has come out with!  If you haven’t tried them, they are well worth the $16 price tag in 13 of Stampin’ Up!’s pretty coordinating colors.

Stamping Imperfection Dragonfly Dreams

I used the Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry and Bermuda Bay pencils.  I stamped the dragonfly from Dragonfly Dreams in StazOn permanent black ink on regular whisper white card stock and then just scribbled some of the color on.

The pencils color so smoothly!  I blended them with some Gamsol and blending stumps or tortillions.  The blending stumps are basically tightly wound paper that you can sand to a pointed tip and the Gamsol is a blending medium.  I’ve been experimenting with these new tools and I like them for water coloring on regular card stock.

Stamping Imperfection stampin up colored pencils

I bought the blending stumps, Gamsol and the sanding paper pad as a set from a demonstrator friend at another company.  I decided to try some new tools that Stampin’ Up! does not sell.  I’m so glad that they have this set of water color pencils now.  LOVE this!

I think they will be great for using in my bullet journal.  Just one more tool to add to my creative obsessions.

My layout for the week was inspired by the Paper Craft Crew Sketch for this week.  My friend, Pam Staples, has created another clean and simple sketch that is quite versatile.

What might you put in that corner instead of a dragonfly or a flower?

pcccs247

I used one of the new 2017-2019 In Colors called Powder Pink.  The ribbon is the new Fresh Fig In Color.  Aren’t these two colors fabulous together?  I love the In Colors this year!

Have You Participated In Any Great Challenges Lately?

I have to say that it felt great to sit down and make some cards today.  I also took another trip to that great bookstore in town!

I created a card for the design team at The Paper Craft Crew and decided to enter it in two other challenges.

This week is the Stamp, Ink, Paper challenge blog’s 100th challenge!  I’ve been to the actual Stamp, Ink, Paper store a couple of times so I wanted to take part in that challenge.  It is a Card Maker’s Choice challenge this week.

I am also entering this in the TCIF Challenge #tgifc108. I loved the layout on that challenge.

Here is my card:

Stamping Imperfection You've Got This

I love this giant floral image and the sentiment is so encouraging.  I used the Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils to add the color to my image.  To create the affect that I wanted, I used Gamsol and a blending stub.  I have not used this technique before and I really like the way it came out.  I was much easier to control than the aqua painter or the blender pens.

I stamped this using StazOn ink directly onto the regular whisper white card stock.

I loved the pencils!  Again, this is the first time that I have used them because they have been packed in a box for the last 4 months.  They are smooth and easy to blend.

For the Paper Craft Crew Sketch, we have a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge.  I went down the center column and used a favorite stamp set, enamel embellishments and a floral image.

pcccs245

These are always fun challenges because you can really make your own card with a few pre-selected details!

The layout was all about the TGIF Challenge for the week.  This one is a layout sketch and I love this layout!  This is #tgifc108 !

#TGIFC108

By the way, I used a new Bermuda Bay ribbon from the soon to be released Stampin’ Up! catalog as a sneak peek!  Isn’t this a great layout?

Finally, the Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge is a Card Maker’s Choice challenge to celebrate their 100th challenge!  Happy 100th Challenge!!!!  They are giving away blog candy, but you need to be in it to win it!  Why not participate?!

sip challenge 100By the way, if you live on Long Island or even NYC, you should stop by the Stamp, Ink, Paper craft store in West Babylon.  They have an amazing selection of goodies and there are classes you can take.  You can check out their Facebook page for details.  I love the variety of products you can browse through in the store.  I do have to say that now I live almost as far east on Long Island as you can get…I will have to make a day of it and go check out what’s new one day this summer!

What Will You Stamp With The Beetles and Bugs Stamp Set?

I love the Beetles and Bugs stamp set!  As soon as I saw it in the Occasions Catalog, I had to have it!  Today, I finally sat down and used it!

WWYS117 Stamping Imperfection

I indulged myself this week and went to the bookstore in town.  I haven’t sat down to read a book in months.  We have a great little bookstore in town with a nice selection of books.  It’s a little tiny store, but it delighted me to see that we had it in this new town we are living in!

Since I was throwing caution to the wind and taking some time for myself, I also checked out some of my favorite challenges.

I found that the What Will You Stamp Challenge this week was for the Beetles and Bugs stamp set!  Yahoo!  I’ve been anxious to use it and feeling a little guilty that it is going to be retired at the end of this month.

Needless to say, I just had to make the time to participate in this one.  This is one of those stamp sets that retires and I keep it on a special shelf of my absolute favorite stamp sets.

wwys117

I’ve also used the Sprinkles of Life and the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  The balloons are glimmer paper cut with the Balloon Punch.  The Bermuda Bay ribbon is a sneak peek for the new catalog coming out in June.

Try to find some time for yourself this week.  Be creative, read a book, take a walk or a bike ride.  Enjoy the spring!

Sneak Peek: A New Hostess Set Coming in June!

I just couldn’t resist using a new stamp set and a new color when I was stamping today!

I finally unpacked enough of my craft room that it is functional to sit and stamp.  It feels good to have the table set up along with my Big Shot station.

I also found my tripod so I’m hoping to get to make a video this weekend!  So looking forward to getting back into my videos.

This week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge was more challenging than I expected!  Check out my card:

Stamping Imperfection

I love this stamp set.  This is called Background Bits and it is a Host set from the new catalog that starts in June.  I love the background bits stamp sets.  You get a variety of little stamps that you can use to create backgrounds or little splashes of color or pattern on a card.  I find them very useful and versatile to have on hand.

Plus…isn’t that script sentiment fabulous?!

Pccc244

Here is the sketch that I started with.  Since I made my floral element larger than the one in the picture, I found those 3 rectangular boxes to be a challenge!  I had planned to use the Layered Alphabet set, but it just wasn’t working for me tonight.  I kept it simple and I kind of like the effect of stamping the sentiment on the boxes.  It almost makes it appear to move as you move the card.

Remember that the retiring products are only available until the end of this month!  Check out the clearance rack and the retiring products at mystampingstore.com!

Thank you for stopping by today!

Thankful Life

I hope this post finds you doing well!  Thank you for hanging in there with me as I get settled in my new locale!

I thought I might get a chance to make a video today, but alas…I couldn’t find one of the pieces of my tripod to make it all work!  After 2 months, I still have boxes everywhere.  Mostly in my craft room!

Instead, I had a chance to make a card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge!  Another great sketch by Pam Staples left me feeling creative even in a small window of time.

Stamping Imperfection Paper Craft Crew

I’m actually sending this to my mother for Mother’s Day.  The inside sentiment reads, “It’s not what we have in life…but who we have in life that matters.”

I think that is a fabulous sentiment for Mom.

As you can see from this card, I did not line up the 3 stamps all that well.  The two greens turned out fine, but the pink just got stamped in a rush without lining it up.  It’s fine.

Do you love the colors???  The purple and the two greens are two of the new In Colors for 2017-2019!!!  Wowzers!  I wasn’t sure about that lime color, but it is great with the others.  The pink is the flirty flamingo from last year.  The tassel is also a new product.

Here is the Paper Craft Crew sketch for the week:

pccs243

You can see that I flipped the banners to the bottom.  I used baker’s twine in place of the top banner and the tassel in place of the circle element.  I also completely forgot the little embellishments!

I really like the sketch.  To be honest, if I could have located my heat tool the sentiment would have been heat embossed so that it popped more.  But we make due when we need to.  Crafter’s are resilient people!  When you are a creative type like we are, you go with the flow.  My flow right now is whatever has been unpacked and is on my craft table!

One day I hope to have a beautiful and tidy craft room to share with you…today is not that day.

At least I have a card to share!

Finally…A Chance To Stamp!

I finally had a little time to stamp.  I haven’t had a chance to design any cards for the past several Paper Craft Crew challenges and I decided I would just schedule in some time today!

paper craft crew 241

I found the box with my ink pads last week and got those unpacked.  I still can’t find half of my card stock, so my paper selection is very limited.  Maybe I will have time to do some unpacking this weekend!

I’ve been painting walls and trim like a mad woman.  I have one small hall and the bathroom and the entire house is painted.

I’ve also had a parade of people coming through.  We now have a working shower and a bathroom fan.  We also have plantation shutters on the windows and the house has a fabulous cottage feel to it.  I also really did a lot of work in the kitchen.  I decided to keep the cabinets I have for now because they are in such good shape even though they are from the mid-90’s!

All in all…there is progress.

I have to confess to feeling completely overwhelmed with the task of owning a fixer upper, unpacking 32 years of married life and kid stuff, working, and taking a class.

I’m exhausted!  I did make time to stamp though!

Here is the sketch from the Paper Craft Crew this week:

Thank you so much for stopping by!!!  I hope to get back to posting on a regular basis soon!  This moving ordeal has to settle down soon, right?!!

A Note Of Thanks

Just a quick post today to share my Paper Craft Crew card with this week’s sketch.

I’m still unpacking…it may never end!  I’ve been trying to do 4-8 boxes a day and I have to say that I am exhausted!

pccc234 Stamping Imperfection

I still have not found the box with my ink pads and markers and I’m still missing half of my card stock, so my colors are limited to one black StazOn ink pad and the ROY range of the rainbow for papers!

I really like the sketch this week and I wish that I had more tools to work with, but it is amazing that you can make an interesting card with just a few things.

You can see that I did unearth my punches, washi tapes and baker’s twine.  I also found my Designer Papers, so I can add a lot of interest to cards with my colorful patterned papers.

Check out the sketch from the Paper Craft Crew:

How cute is that?  Give it a try and join our challenge at the Paper Craft Crew this week.

I love the new Thankful Thoughts stamp set.  I find that I can never have enough thank you cards, so I do love to make them and I like to have a variety of thank you sentiments in different sizes, styles and fonts.

Well…off to get my paper work ready to get my taxes done.

I’m telling you…the fun never ends around here!

Finding Enough Craft Supplies To Get Stamping!

I have to say that the last 5 months have been some of the most stressful months of my entire life!  Buying one house, selling another and packing up 32 years worth of stuff (a high percentage of which is craft stuff!), really takes it’s toll.

In between closing on the “new” house and then the old house, my son fell and broke his back.  He’s fine, thankfully.  A back brace and some rest are helping him heal.  But…phew!  That really made the last two weeks a true challenge to make it through.

I’m delighted to say that we are all moved out of the old house and into the new one.  Our old house sold fast…the first people who looked at it bought it.   Our new house is a definite fixer upper and it needs a lot of love.  I am delighted to say that it only has 4 rooms to take care of.

It does have a great basement with an office space and a craft room space all ready to be loved and used.

Thankfully, it also has a good sized basement, attic and garage.  Did I mention the 32 years worth of stuff?

Here is my craft area so far…this is progress compared to what it looked like on Sunday!

skinner craft space

The movers packed this room with furniture and boxes like they were packing a moving truck.  Everything went into this one space.  We cleared out the boxes into the other part of the basement and moved furniture around.  I’ve started unpacking one box at a time.  I’ve unearthed enough stuff to make a few cards.  I have yet to find my stamp pads, but I did find a few Stampin’ Spots!

I actually created a card for my Paper Craft Crew design team challenge.  Happily it is a tic-tac-toe challenge this week.  Since I’m digging out I decided to choose 3 or 4 things even though I didn’t make a straight line in any direction.

stamping imperfection paper craft crew card

I used a loosely interpreted collage, lace, natural element and insects.  You can see that I used stamps from 3 sets:  Thankful Thoughts, Gift from the Garden and the Perpetual Birthday Calendar sets.  I used Dapper Denim, Calypso Coral and Pear Pizzazz ink spots to make a little thank you card.

I was happy to find a package of the note cards and envelopes.  I could only find one box of card stock.  Hopefully the rest will turn up within the next couple of unpacking days.

#bringingbirthdaysback

That’s right!  Stampin’ Up! is bringing birthdays back.  So is this week’s Paper Craft Crew card challenge.

I’m excited that I actually got to use this new **FREE** stamp set called Hey Chick.  I LOVE this stamp set.  It’s ridiculously cute.

#bringingbirthdaysback with stamping imperfection

These are cute chicks!

I foresee myself using them for everything.  (Especially given that I’ve packed all but about 10 stamp sets hoping that our move will happen soon.)

I really liked how the sentiment came out.  (That is from another stamp set and I can’t remember the name of it at the moment.)  I stamped it first in Early Espresso and then again in Real Red offsetting it by a small amount.  (One of the advantages of photopolymer stamps is that you can see to align the image and pull it just slightly to the side to create the stereo effect you see here.)

Interesting, no?!

Here is this week’s Paper Craft Crew challenge…
