Concord & 9th had a wonderful release last month. I had a hard time selecting just a couple of items. I could not resist this gorgeous Vintage Floral stamp and sentiment set.
How pretty is that image? That is one giant image and I think it is fabulous. Next time I use it, I will watercolor it! This time, I used my Copics.
I actually really like the way it turned out and I had a lot of fun coloring it.
Is there anything more relaxing than coloring with markers or watercoloring?

I used this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch to create my card and I flipped the sketch. I actually flipped the focal point of the card. From the sketch, the layered squares should be the focal point with a subtle stamped background. That’s what I flipped in this sketch. I almost feel like I cheated!
Almost. A sketch is a starting point to inspire you to create something and that is what I did.
I really love adding the splatters to the colored images. It adds such a finishing touch to the cards. I used white gouache and Catherine Pooler’s Midnight ink watered down and then I used a #12 round brush to flick the paint on.

One of the things that I’ve really been focusing on when creating cards is to add dimension using a drop shadow and layers of colors. I used my gray marker to add a drop shadow to this one to make the leaves and petals appear to have dimension with one on top of the other.
I also love adding a wash background around the florals. It anchors the image and makes the card feel complete.
I’m off to get some sleep. These last few weeks of school are just dragging and I’m just limping along hanging on by a thread to make it to the end of the year. I don’t know why this past couple of months has felt so eternally long, but I can’t wait to have time to just be creative!
And clean! My house needs a good top-to-bottom cleaning and I can’t wait to get to it!
