Create 2 Quick and Colorful Cards to Brighten Someone’s Day

I have 2 cards to share with you today that go along with a couple of the latest stamping trends that I used in my Technique-a-Week video: Rainbows and black outline stamps with no color.

The first card I created quickly using some rainbow patterned paper from MFT Stamps.  I love shopping at MFT Stamps.  They always have free shipping with a qualifying order (TODAY, April 2…that’s a $25 order), they also give a freebie like a die or stamp set with a qualifying order which is usually $60, and they have coupon codes if you spend $100 or more.  They also have great sales.

This stamp set is so sweet!  It is called Showering You With Love.  I either got it as a freebie or in one of the MFT Stamps card kits.  I’ve had it a while and I’ve used it several times.  It’s a perfect image to practice alcohol marker coloring or watercoloring.  Here I’ve used my Altenew Artist Markers, which are alcohol markers.

I stamped the image in Catherine Pooler’s Midnight Black and then colored it with the markers.  I used the coordinating die to cut out the images and popped them up on foam tape from MFT stamps.  I used the sentiment and the raindrops from the stamp set to heat emboss in black on the vellum and I added the Studio Katia Clear Drops to finish it off. The background is a piece of patterned paper from MFT from one of their 6×6″ rainbow stacks.  I love the MFT 6×6″ patterned paper pads.  I have one pad in colors and patterns for each season, plus the black and white stripes pack and a holiday package.  I store them in a Totally Tiffany 6 x 6″ Fab File and keep each pad in a separate plastic sleeve which allows me to keep the left over pieces with the original pads.

I attached my vellum to the patterned paper with glue dots place under the stamping and the images.  Can you see them, yes…but only if you are looking.

For the second card, I used two small stamp sets that I just got from Trinity Stamps.  This is the first time that I’ve ordered from this stamp company and I really had a nice experience!  They sent me a free package of gold heart embellishments and a tea bag!  I love it!  I placed a small order and to receive such a nice freebie was really appreciated!

Love You Bunches is the name of the floral stamp set.  It does have some sentiments, but I also got the Hello Sentiments stamp set and I really loved the giant hello stamp that I used for the background along with the nice selection of secondary sentiments like the one you see on the top of the card.  I’m looking forward to watercoloring and using my alcohol markers on that big floral image!

I created my own background with the hello stamp and a selection of Catherine Pooler inks that include: Rockin’ Red, Orange Twist, Shea Butter, Grass Skirt, Suede Shoes, and Grape Crush. The Midnight Black was used for the sentiment and the floral image was heat embossed in black on vellum.

I quite like the effect the vellum gives because it sort of softnes the background.  I’ve created a video so you can see both cards and you can see how I created this background.
