Create A Quick And Easy Watercolor Card With Shimmer!

By | 10/02/2018

I love adding little details to change a card slightly and I have two cards that I created with the same materials but one extra twist on each to make them slightly different from each other.

I have several card kits that I enjoy receiving each month.  One of the kits is the MFT Stamps card kit.  This one never disappoints.  I always seem to get a beautiful stamp set with lots of sentiments and some coordinating dies.  Plus they send a sheet of ideas and inspiration along with lots of card stock and some specialty papers.

The September Beautiful Blooms kit was no exception!  I happily had time to play with this yesterday after work.  I really needed time to decompress from a stressful day, but I didn’t have a lot of time to create a card.

I selected a quick watercolor technique and the beautiful stamps, dies and papers in this kit did the rest.

Stamping Imperfection MFT Beautiful Blooms

This is the card that I made last night.  I LOVED the card and hated the video.  I recreated both today.

I used some Hero Arts mini ink cubes for my color: Fiesta red, teal, yellow and a deep red color.  I also created my splatter with black soot distress oxide ink.  That layered beautiful die came with the kit as did a die that cuts out the giant bloom.  The secondary sentiments in the set are fabulous.  I’m sending this one to my daughter.  I think she will enjoy this card.

Instead of the splatter, for today’s card I used some perfect pearls powder to get a shimmery effect.

This has less yellow in it than the first card.  I love how no two cards will ever be alike with this quick and easy technique.  It is virtually a stress free technique because you don’t have control over how the inks blend on the card.

You can see a used a second sentiment creating a whole different message on this card!

Isn’t that persimmon card stock fabulous with the ink colors?  It feels like a fall card to me.

Here is a peek at the shimmer!  It is so pretty in person!

Here is a video I created to share this technique:
