Create A Quick Card Background With Washi Tape

Two challenges, a great card sketch, a video, and an easy background technique.  That’s what I have for you today!

I’m using this week’s Atlantic Hearts Sketch to complete my card today.

You can see that there is a strip detail behind the rectangle panel and the focal image.  There are numerous ways to add those stripes to your card base.  Instead, I chose to interpret this as a panel detail and pulled out my wide dotted Washi tape from Altenew.  It’s so fast to add a wide piece of washi tape to your background and then you can focus on the main details of the card.

While I modified the detail behind the focal point of the card, I decided to keep the floral detail.  I feel like I haven’t made enough floral cards lately!

I used Altenew’s Sunlit Flowers stamp set and the Candy Shop inks that include Cotton Candy, Mango Smoothie, and Peach Parfait.  I added some green to the leaves with the Frayed Leaf alcohol  marker from the Primary Set of Artist Markers.  I also added a few enamel dots to finish it off.

There is no coordinating die set with this flower so I used my Brother Scan-n-Cut to cut out the flowers.  I was able to pop those up on foam dots for dimension and stamp the leaves directly on my card front panel.Create A Quick Card Background With Washi Tape

Card Recipe:

Card Base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″, score and fold at 4-1/4″

Card Mats: Black cut at 3-1/8 x 3-3/4″, White cut at 3 x 3-5/8″

Stamp Set: Altenew Sunlit Flowers

Inks: Cotton Candy, Mango Smoothie, Frayed Leaf Marker, Cotton Candy marker, Mango Smoothie marker, permanent black ink

Emellishments: Neutral Enamel Dots, Dotted Washi Tape

Tools: Original Misti, trimmer, Brother Scan-n-Cut, Double sided tape, foam dots

When you compare this to the card sketch that I started with, you can see that the sketch works perfectly with this card.

I’m also adding this card to the Paper Craft Crew Challenge for the week.  This challenge is a CASE challenge.  You can select a design team members card and CASE it!  Create your own version of it and share it on the site!!  Play along with both challenges and have some fun!pcc391
