Create A Quick Picnic Themed Card With A Card Sketch Challenge

By | 08/03/2020

Today’s card is a quick and easy card with a Picnic Theme and I used this week’s Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge to create my layout.

I’ve also used Catherine Pooler’s brand new A Tisket, A Tasket 6 x 6″ patterned paper along with a stamp set from Woodware Craft Collection called Beetle Flower.  This is my very first stamp from Woodware Craft Collection and it’s a fun one!

I love this paper!  It’s such a fun collection.  I felt like this looked like grass, a table cloth, and a basket.  All it needed was the bugs!

This stamp set actually has 4 bugs connected with the top one holding the flower.  I just stamped the two top ones with the flower.  The stamp itself would be great for a slimline card or a scrapbook page.  It has 3 sentiments and one fabulous image!  I fussy cut the stamp after I stamped it and then did some very quick coloring with my Altenew Artist Markers Set A and Set B.  I added some enamel dots from my stash to finish off the card.

Paper Cutting Recipe:

Card base:  Neenah Solar White cut at 4-1/4 x 11″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″

Green patterned paper cut at 1-1/2 x 4-1/4″

Red patterned paper cut at 1-3/4 x 2-1/2″

Brown basket patterned paper cut at 1-1/4 x 3-3/4″

Here is the sketch that I used to create the card from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge:

The sketch seems to scream for some great patterned paper and this would be perfect for your paper scraps.  You could also use colored cardstock, embossed white cardstock, or you could create your own backgrounds with mixed media for this project.  I just received my order from Catherine Pooler’s latest release and it is sitting on my table right next to me, so I couldn’t resist playing with some of her great papers.

For you coloring experts, you can see that I didn’t pay any attention to my light source since my highlights move around on the bugs.  I was just enjoying the project and the coloring.  Next time I used this stamp set, I will be more consistent with where my highlights are. For today, I was just enjoying coloring those bugs!

I’m quite pleased with this cute stamp set and I will definitely order more sets from this company!  I didn’t have anything like this in my stash so this was a fun one to purchase and add to my collection.
