Create Cards With Digital Images, Copics And Ditress Oxides

By | 05/24/2020

Have you purchased and used any digital images?  I have been amazed at the fabulous digital images you can purchase online.  Many of them are very intricate and detailed, but I’ve discovered some that are just adorable and perfect for someone new to the digi files and Copic coloring.

Browsing blogs and Pinterest, you tend to see very detailed, beautifully colored images of fairies and children.  I always wonder how long it took the artist to master that coloring skill.  My coloring skill is still evolving and I’m enjoying experimenting with different ways to create the images.

I found a shop on Etsy called Kinda Cute with images and stamp sets created by Patricia Alvarez.  The critters she has created are just adorable.  I found myself selecting 7 critters and I decided to try one out today.  The images I purchased were all $2 or less and I can print them out and keep practicing them until I feel like I’ve perfected them.

Today I am sharing an darling little platypus!

I created a background using distress oxides.  Hopefully it looks like a sandy beach, water, and a sky!  It was fun to give creating a background from a plain piece of paper a try.

Coloring with alcohol markers is always so relaxing.  This little guy was fun to color.  It’s not perfect, but I can print it out again and color him in with a different technique.  I may try to watercolor him if I have time tomorrow.

I printed the digital image on to card stock and I will print it out on watercolor paper if I decide to do that.  I resized the image with Photoshop and gave the coloring a go.

I stopped worrying about the light source thing and just decided to make him look shaded in and then I added a few white highlights with my gel pen.  I have no doubt this will drive a real artist crazy because my light source is all over the place, but that’s okay.  I’m a work in progress.

I don’t have an affiliation with Patricia Alvarez from Kinda Cute, but I can tell you that I will definitely be purchasing more images from her shop.  I love that I have instant access to them, they are really affordable and they don’t take up any storage space on a shelf!

I’ve also got a cute pig, some ducks, and a bear to color in.  I’m going to have a very relaxing week!

Thank you for stopping by.  You will find the link to Patricia’s shop above the first photo.

Happy Memorial Day!  Enjoy, stay safe, and be well my friends!
