Fixing Card Mistakes and Creating A Card You Like!

By | 08/25/2020

The video for today started out to be a quick card video to share a cute layout with this week’s Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  It ended up being a video about how I fixed a card that I wasn’t crazy about when I was finished!

I have a cute card to share that I ended up really liking!

How cute is this card?!

You can no doubt see one of the card mishaps in this photo!  I’m just learning how to use my Brother Scan-n-Cut and it cut out the squirrels face.  I fixed it by placing some Washi tape on the back and just putting the piece back in place.  This photo really captures that it was a mishap!  It doesn’t actually look so blatant in person!

I created this card to work with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch for this week’s challenge.  I LOVE this sketch:

I just loved this.  I also have a plaid that looks exactly like the one in the picture and I almost used that!

This card uses the MFT Stamps Always Bring A Smile stamp set that is full of cute images and sentiments.  It also uses the Sunny Studio Stamps Fall Flicks Filmstrip die.  I have actually had this for two years and I use it quite a bit.  I love it for fall layouts because it has all kinds of pumpkin and sunflower dies along with the filmstrip die.  The filmstrip die can be used all year long!

I colored all the images with my Altenew Artist Markers.  These are a set of 60 alcohol markers that come in sets of 12. Each set has 3 colors with 4 shades designed to layer and blend together.  If you have not taken the plunge into alcohol marker coloring because of the cost and the “How do I know which colors to buy because there are 2500 of those Copic markers?”, this is the way to start!

The price point is great, they often have sales, and they are refillable besides.  Altenew also offers several classes for less than $10 each showing you projects and how to color images with them.

I love that I don’t have to figure out which colors will work together.  Someone with an actual art background has done that already!

The patterned paper is also one I got for FREE from MFT Stamps!  I always place my orders on Wednesday because they have specials on Wednesday at MFT stamps.  I also wait until I have enough to place a qualifying order, which is usually $60.  A qualifying order gets you a freebie.  I got this 6 x 6″ Buffalo Brights Patterned Paper Pack of 24 sheets of paper!  I LOVE MFT Stamps papers.  (Sunny Studio Stamps has fabulous papers also!)

I have a video showing what I didn’t originally like about the card when I made it and it shows how I went about fixing it.
