Creating a layered card!
I am going to ‘fess up and tell you that this card went through at least 3 permutations before I finally landed on the one I liked! Some days are all about experimentation. I think that I will start calling my craft room the stamping lab!
I was so sad when the Everything Eleanor stamp set retired. I love flourishes! They make great backgrounds and they look wonderful if you stamp tone-on-tone with them. I love using them for a simple sympathy card and an elegant note card. I just find them to be very versatile.
Thankfully, Stampin’ Up! came out with a new set called Flourishing Phrases. It’s fantastic! It has 18 stamps that includes a huge variety of sentiments. (I already have a favorite!) It also has a coordinating thinlets die set with 10 dies! You can get them as a bundle and save 10% by buying them at the same time.
What you see on this card is the flourish and one sentiment from the set. I’ve only used 2 stamps from the set to create this card!
I colored the leaves and flower bits with the same colors that I used for my card layers and the enamel dots.
How pretty is that new Sweet Sugarplum from the 2016-2018 In Colors with the Wild Wasabi and So Saffron from the Subtles collection?
Card Layers
I’ve been making a lot of clean and simple (CAS) single layer cards lately and I think I was just craving a multi-layered card today! My layers each have a 1/8″ border all around. Here are the dimensions of each layer:
- Card base of Whisper White cut at 4-1/4 x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″
- Wild Wasabi cut at 4-1/8 x 5-3/8″
- So Saffron cut at 4 x 5-1/4″
- Sweet Sugarplum cut at 3-7/8 x 5-1/8″
- Whisper White cut at 3-3/4 x 5″
I created the stamped image then layered all the mats together. I wrapped the ribbon around and secured it with a knot on the front, then attached the layers to the card base. I used no dimensionals on this card.
I liked the final product in the end. The color combination made me happy!
