Happy Hippos CAS Card With Alcohol Markers

By | 05/13/2020

The Happy Hippos stamp set from MFT Stamps was too irresistibly cute for me not to order it!  The little hippos and birds made me want to color them.

MFT Stamps has so many adorable critter stamp sets that it’s hard to actually select just one stamp set.  I love to shop in their store on Wednesdays.

Wednesday is Blitzday at MFT.  They usually have a really good sale on something. Plus, you get a free gift with a qualifying purchase and free shipping on orders over a certain amount.  If your wish list is long, you can also qualify for a 10% discount if you spend over $100 or 20% over $200 and so forth.

Personally, I keep a running list of the goodies I want and then pick a Wednesday every couple of months to spend my crafty dollars and get a freebie along with free shipping.  Shipping is expensive so I always consider it a big savings if I don’t have to pay shipping costs.

Happy Hippos CAS Card MFT Stamps and alcohol marker coloring

I colored this on a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″ piece of 110 lb Neenah Solar White card stock.  I will pop this on to a card base when I am ready to send it out.

I used Altenew markers to color this in.  It is stamped with Catherine Pooler’s Midnight black ink.  This has become my favorite ink to get clear crisp images and sentiments with just one stamping!  It is also perfect for using with alcohol markers and watercoloring techniques since it is an archival permanent black ink.  It also dries quickly…which is good.  I’m usually so anxious to get coloring that I forget to give the ink time to dry!

I added a few little grass details with simple marker flicks just to ground the hippo and finish up the card.

I love a clean and simple card!  No fuss!
