It’s a good idea to refresh your browser at least once a day! I missed the closing of the Just Add Ink Add Wings challenge yesterday, but discovered that they had a new challenge up today! This week’s challenge is a color challenge and I had fun with it!
My hands and desk are a complete mess, so I actually had a great time!
The colors used in the challenge include Blushing Bride, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black and Daffodil Delight! Interesting!
I decided to make a Halloween card of course. I have to admit that it started out to be a serious card and I realized that Halloween is a whimsical holiday…so whimsical I made it.
I’ve added the angry pumpkin, the bats and 3 spiders just for fun.
Here is the color challenge at Just Add Ink:
I created a circle mask for my moon shape with a 1-1/2″ circle punch. I attached it with temporary adhesive and then sponged around it. I sponged on all 4 colors and I have to say that the Pumpkin Pie really over powered the rest! I would add more of the pink and go lighter on the orange the next time I did this color combo.
I used so many stamp sets for this that it’s hard to remember which ones I actually used! Definitely the Jar of Haunts for the angry pumpkin and the spider, Spooky Fun for the sentiment, Sweet Home for the bat, In the Meadow and Wetlands for the weeds. (I think this card would have worked better with more ominous looking weeds. These weeds just look too “nice”. They just aren’t creepy weeds!)
I used Whisper White card stock cut at 4-1/4 x 11″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″. I also used white for the pumpkin and then colored it in with markers. I used a scrap of Daffodil Delight for the sentiment and I added some of the Pumpkin Pie/Black baker’s twine from the Holiday Catalog.
It’s always fun to create a card by sponging the background. You never know how it’s going to look until you are done and it’s ridiculously relaxing to do!
