Layout A Day Challenge Day 8: Favorite Old Movie

By | 10/08/2020

Today’s layout prompt was a favorite old movie and the technique prompt was to use the movie poster as inspiration.

The very first movie that I ever remember seeing in the movie theater was Swiss Family Robinson.  I remember that my grandmother and two of my uncles were there with my mom, me and my sister.  I remember 2 things: I was very scared at the beginning of the movie when the families boat was shipwrecked and they lived in the coolest treehouse ever.

My movie poster inspiration from Fanart.tv:

Anyone else thinking, “That’s Dano!”?  Cute older brother went on to Hawaii 5-0 fame.

Here is what I came up with:

This is from a family vacation to Acadia National Park in Maine.  It was quite beautiful.  We went hiking, whale watching, we saw puffins, we ate a lot of blueberries and we went canoeing.  Our kids had never been in a canoe before.  We enjoyed it so much that we actually bought an old used canoe when we got home and did a lot of canoeing on the Peconic River after that.  This day led to a lot of family outings!

All of the papers are leftover stash papers.  I’m still so excited about using up so much old 12 x 12″ patterned paper from my stash!  I am going to blow through all this paper!  My reward is going to be that I get to join a monthly scrapbook kit club!  That’s right!

I’ve used left over ephemera and stickers from other projects.  Some of this is from Simple Stories Vintage Coastal from an album that I made with a Vicki Boutin class.  There is also Altenew leftovers here and some old Stampin’ Up!

The only new things here are a few pieces from 49th & Market.

I’m enjoying my knew ephemera cluster habit.  It’s fun to layer stuff together with fun little details that all have some meaningful reason for being there.

I’ve also developed a new appreciation for keeping labels, tickets and tags from all future events!

I’m truly enjoying this LOAD challenge.  It’s fun to get the prompts each morning and post my page on the Scrap Happy site.  Then I browse through the gallery and comment on the pages that other people have posted.

It’s so much fun to see how other people interpreted the same prompt.  It’s also fun getting to know a bunch of new friends who are also obsessed with scrapbooking and telling their stories!!!

Thank you for dropping in.  I did not have time to create a post for my Day 7 layout, so I will do that later this week.

I need a couple of days to clean up my craft space!  I have a video that I will share on Sunday to show you what I’ve been up to!!

Stay tuned my friends!
