Making Peace With A CASEd Sketch

By | 10/08/2016

I decided that I had to try the sketch challenge from CAS(E) this sketch this week.  The simplicity of the sketch was irresistible!  I also wanted to use the Faux Mat technique that I haven’t used in a while.

Stamping Imperfection Peace Card

I used a couple of fun techniques to create this single layer card.  Yes!  I said it’s a single layer!!!  That is a marker line you see, not a mat of black card stock!!!  I also did some sponging on the card and some heat embossing.

I’m loving the new Precision Base Plate that Stampin’ Up! is selling to cut out these detailed die cuts with the Big Shot.  No more dryer sheets or wax papers!  These dies just pop right out of the steel framelits.  It just makes it so much easier to use those detailed dies that I’m actually using them and not purchasing them to sit on my shelf!  (You know what I’m talking about!)

I’ve been doing a lot of sponging lately.  This time of year, I enjoy sponging because you can get an almost dreamy effect or an ombre type effect to stamp on or to create layers with.  It’s quick and easy, although a mess at times.  One thing I can’t be tidy about and that is sponging!  I’m going to sleep with Bermuda Bay finger tips this evening!

The sketch is from the CAS(E) this sketch challenge:

For this card, I’ve used the Festive Season stamp set, the Christmas Greetings Thinlets, a black marker, Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky and Pool Party with a sponge and dauber.

If you need stamping supplies, you can get them online at mystampingstore.com!

Thank you for stopping by!

Lovely sponging. I like the contrasting colours you’ve used. SImple and stylish.
