Scrapbook Theme Challenge YOUrself: Thankful

By | 09/07/2020

This month’s theme for the Challenge YOUrself Scrapbook challenges is a theme challenge and that theme is THANKFUL!

I was excited about this one.  I knew just which picture I wanted to use and I had created a mixed media background that I loved but wasn’t sure what to do with next.  You will see that here!

Scrapbook Theme Challenge: Thankful

Perhaps you saw my mixed media background video a couple of days ago.  This is the second panel I was working on that I showed briefly in that video.  I LOVE this color combination!  I also loved the Stencil Girl stencils that I used on it.

I almost framed it because I loved it that much!

Instead, I’ve used it as the backdrop for my Thankful scrapbook layout.  You know that in the Challenge YOUrself challenges YOU always have to be in the photo.  This photo is from February when my husband and I visited a landscaping place to try to decide what to do around our new little cottage in Florida.  It was so beautiful there and we enjoyed the browsing!

I tried to keep the rule of 3’s in mind while I was creating this layout.  I have 3 ephemera clusters, 3 mats under my photo, 3 spots of green in a triangle, 3 of the peachy pink in a triangle…you see where I’m going with this!

You can see two of the ephemera clusters here.  I had one in the top corner of the page and one above my photo.  I love all the tickets and tags.  I got these from a 49th and Market ephemera set.  I just love them!!  They have them in all colors.  I pulled out the yellow one and I was so happy that I had purchased the yellow one!!

My final ephemera cluster was next to the photo.  These pieces are from the Craft Factory’s Stillwater collection and I LOVE them.

I adored the sentiment strips that I used on this layout.  I thought they were all perfect for how thankful I am for this man in my life!  We will celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary next month and start year 36 together!  It’s actually been bliss.  I knew within just a few minutes of meeting him that I would marry him. I could tell that he knew it too.

My layout is still a 6 x 8″ layout that I am adding to my One Little Word album for 2020.  This picture is probably already in there in some form, but I just love it and it works with the colors that I used here too.

That is so pretty! I made cards, vinyl & infusible ink designs with my Cricut and some scrapbooking. My neighbor there in FL is BIG into scrapbooking. We have a winter home in Cape Coral just a couple miles north of pine island Rd, off Embers parkway! Small world. We love how quaint St. James City is and the views from the southern tip are incredible! Well so are the northern water views. Ha. Anyway, I’m sure there are tons of other crafty ladies in our area. You could start a group and teach us! Ha. Just what you want to do in retirement huh. Teach more. We’re retired as well. I’m 64, hubby is 67. He’s into fishing and old cowboy shows! Ha. TFS and I’ll continue to follow your blog for ideas of scrapbooking and I’ll tell my neighbor to! All the best to you and ENJOY YOUR FREEDOM NOW!

      Hi Sheri!
It’s so great to hear from you! We were getting to know Cape Coral and Fort Myers in January and February before the quarantine. We really love it there. I am hoping to start teaching crafty classes one of these days. I love teaching! I will definitely be doing some online classes in the near future. One of these days maybe we can get a bunch of friends together for a craft day! I am enjoying every minute of my time!! Thanks for stopping by and and commenting!
