Sharing The Joy Of The Season

By | 12/20/2017

Card Making during the holiday season is somehow so soul quenching.  I’m not sure why.  It may be that we take time for ourselves and that quiet few minutes of creating refills our souls.  I’m not sure.  I just know that this is exactly what I needed to do today.  I needed to let the world continue to rotate on it’s axis while I spent a quiet afternoon in my studio.

I was so inspired by this week’s Paper Craft Crew challenge that I can’t even tell you how much I’ve been thinking about it all week.

This week’s challenge is an inspiration challenge.  We share a picture with you and you make a card that is inspired by the picture.

When I saw the picture, it felt like it represented the beauty and elegance of the season.  Check it out:

Isn’t it beautiful?

My first thoughts were that my card needed red, green, gold, floral and vellum.

For the floral image I simply could not resist using the ‘Tis the Season stamp set from Catherine Pooler’s Winterhaven Collection.  This stamp set really called to me this year.  I don’t know what it was, but I just couldn’t get enough of it.

On this card, you can see that I have dry embossed the vellum.  I placed the vellum in an embossing folder and ran it through the Big Shot.  (This is a sneak peek at one of the new embossing folders that will be available in January in the Occasions Catalog.)

I also used the Joy sentiment die from Catherine Pooler.  I actually cut it out several times and layered the die cuts to make it thicker and sturdier.  It is quite a delicate sentiment.

I also added some Wink of Stella clear sparkle in the embossed parts.  You can’t see it unless you are holding the card.

I was trying to give it an elegant feel with a bit of sparkle and glitz with the gold thread and glitter die cut.

Once again, thank you so much for stopping by!

Happy holidays!
