Stampin’ Up! Only Holiday Paper Challenge

By | 10/15/2016

I  was excited to see that the new SUO Challenge #159 was a Holiday Paper challenge.  Here is my crack at the challenge:

Stamping ImperfectionHoliday Paper Challenge

I was delighted that I could create any card that I wanted as long as I used Stampin’ Up!’s holiday papers.  I can keep my card clean and simple that way.  Some of the challenge sketches on other challenges really get crazy with the shapes and all of the layers they want to see in the card.  I’ve come to realize that my card making style is more clean and simple without too many random layers.  I’ll keep practicing at the layers!

Have you ever reached a point with a card where you just added that one more touch and it just ruined the card?

Sometimes simple is better and less is truly more!

The designer paper here is actually from the Warmth and Cheer Designer Paper Stack. I love these little paper stacks.  It feels like less of a commitment to cut into a 6 x 6″ sheet of beautiful paper instead of that giant 12 x 12″ sheet.   I mean, what if I figure out some great project that I could have used that paper for if I just hadn’t cut a hunk out of the corner???  You know that feeling.  That’s why we horde paper!

To keep this card simple, I used my Star Framelits and cut out 3 stars from a piece of Crumb Cake card stock (4 x 5-1/4″) and then attach a piece of the Warmth and Cheer to the back using adhesive only around the edges!  I sponged the edge of the card layer with Crumb Cake ink, added some Gold and Garden Green Baker’s Twine from the Trio Pack in the Holiday Catalog.  I attached this to a Crumb Cake card base (4-1/4 x 11″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″).

I also stamped my sentiment from the Merriest Wishes stamp set and added some of those fabulous Gold Metallic Enamel Shapes.  Then I called it a day for the card!

I was very excited to find out that I was selected as one of the SUO Challenge bog’s Top 3 Picks for their last challenge!  You can see that I’ve added the badge to the widgets on the side of my blog!!  Thank you to the design team at SUO Challenges for selecting my card!!!
