Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch Challenge

Card Sketch #16

I finally took the plunge!  I am participating in my first card sketch challenge!  I was poking around on the computer and happened across the Paper Card Craft Challenge Crew’s website.  It is a site that a group of dedicated paper craft designers created to inspire other paper crafters to challenge themselves to create beautiful cards and scrapbook layouts.

Each week, one of the design team members creates a card sketch for other paper crafters to use as a template to design a card.  I have to say, I was really inspired to create something that I had not seen before!  Here is the Card Sketch that we were given to work with:

Card Sketch Challenge #16

My intention was to make a Holiday Card with unconventional colors.  I’m not really sure if I ended up with a Holiday Card or not, but I’m really happy with my creation!

My Creation!

I love the Midnight Muse paired with Whisper White.  I wanted to keep my color palette simple.  Of course I had to use the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  I just love the elegance that adds to any card that you make.  I also decided that it was time to use the Daydream Medallion stamp set and the Floral Frames Framelits that I just recently purchased.  I used the snowflake stamp from the Mixed Medley set and the sentiment is from Loving Thoughts framed with the Modern Label Punch.  Holidays are all about traditions and creating memories, so this sentiment just embodies the feelings of the season for me.  It also fits perfectly in so many of the punches that it always seems to be a perfect choice.  While the sketch showed the Scallop Edge Punch, I elected to use the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  I love the way it complements the Vintage Wallpaper Folder.

I actually used Midnight Muse ink on my stamped images and then sponged on ink from the Illuminate Ink pad. I covered that in Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter.  You can’t really see that in the picture, but it looks very shimmery in person.  I finished off with some rhinestones.  Every card should have some bling!

Here is an image that I’m attempting to show the Dazzling Diamonds. (I realize this picture doesn’t say much for my photography skills, but they are improving!  There is that learning curve!)

Dazzling Diamonds add sparkle!

You should try the next challenge!  I know that I’m hooked!  This won’t be the last challenge that I participate in.  I love a good challenge.  It gives me a chance to try new techniques and to use stamps and tools that I haven’t yet used.  Hop on over to the Paper Craft Crew Challenge website and see what the next challenge is!
