Christmas Bag and Tags with the Petite Pennant Builder Punch!!

Bag Front

I have to say that I’m really enjoying making my gift bags for the holidays. The possibilities are endless!  I love to design and create matching tag and bag decorations.  Today I did very little stamping.  I used my paper scraps and my punches. I have to say, I’ve never met a punch that I didn’t love and I’ve never regretted buying one.  I love how Stampin’ Up! makes punches to go with the stamps sets they have. Once you buy the punch you will find that they continue to make stamps that can be used with the punch even after they no longer sell that punch any more.  They have so many uses and you can find books full of clever little things you can make using your punches.  Punch art.  Who knew that was a whole new dynamic in the world of art?  Use your punch and become an artist!  See what you can create with them!

Please notice that I have progressed to the blogging point that I got the video done in time for the blog post! That’s progress for this new hobby of mine!

Today I used the Petite Pennant Builder Punch to create little Christmas trees.  I used my new Modern Label punch to have a space to write the gift recipients name on the tag.  Of course I had to use a couple of my embossing folders.  I can’t possibly let a day go by and not use the Big Shot (best crafting purchase EVER!).

Tips for making bags and tags:

  • Use those scraps of paper or challenge yourself to see how many different tags you can make from only 3 sheets of card stock and Designer Series Paper!
  • Use your punches in new ways.  You wouldn’t believe the art that people really do create with their punches.  I once saw a video where someone turned 3 oval punch pieces into a pumpkin of all things!  So think outside the punch! (Or maybe have some punch and then get creative!)
  • This is a good time to try techniques you’ve been waiting to try out.  If you’re making a small project with scrap paper, you don’t feel too bad if the technique just doesn’t work the first time you try it.
  • Have fun!  You will wow your family.  If my family doesn’t say “Wow!” when I hand them their beautifully decorated packages, they don’t get to open them up!

Well, I’m off to search for larger bags.  My daughter sent me her Christmas list today via email, complete with links to exactly what she wants!  It isn’t even Thanksgiving yet and she has her list made.  Here’s to hoping she says “Wow!” when I hand her that decorated bag with the matching tag!!!  I’d hate to have my shopping done this early and not have anyone open the gifts!

Thanks for visiting!  Have you signed up for my mailing list yet (click on the red letters)?  What are you waiting for?  You should see the technique tutorials I have to share with you when you sign up.  You don’t get to see them if you don’t subscribe to the mailing list. (See how I am?  There’s a pattern to my behavior!)

Happy day!
