Happy Halloween With Stampin! Up! I really love the papers in the Holiday Catalog. How fabulous are these Witches’ Brew Designer Series Papers?! The colors are fun and the papers have interesting patterns.
Honestly, this paper really gives you a fabulous background to build your card on. It coordinates so beautifully with so many stamp sets, like the Toil and Trouble set.
I’ve paired this designer paper with images from the Halloween Hello and the Toil and Trouble stamp sets. There are so many things you can do with the small images. They make perfect little tags or little embellishments for candy treats. They fit easily in a 1″ square punch or a 1″ circle. I’ve layered my 1″ square images on 1-1/4″ square tangerine tango mats.
The designer paper also gives you a color scheme to work with. The paper itself uses tangerine tango, basic black, very vanilla and summer starfruit. I’ve used the summer starfruit sparingly by adding just a touch with the ribbon. You can see a few summer starfruit spiders in the paper. I love how subtle that is, yet look how much interest it adds to the card!
My Happy Halloween card had one final touch. This raven image has to be my favorite image to use as the final touch on a Halloween card or project. He’s stamped in black StazOn on very vanilla and then cut out with my paper snips. You can see that I didn’t fuss with the cutting. A little card stock showing around the edge never hurt anything! This is popped up on a stampin’ dimensional to add a bit of texture and dimension to the card. And can I just add…that ribbon is so soft. It’s one of my favorite ribbons to touch! I’ve had this roll of ribbon for a year and I feel like I use it all the time. 10 yards of ribbon really goes a long way!
The ribbons and embellishments were amongst the last items that I started to purchase and add to my stamping stash. They seemed so decadently expensive. What I didn’t realize when I kept hesitating to purchase them was that you get 10 yards of ribbon (as opposed to 3 yards of craft store ribbon), the ribbons are soft and luscious and they automatically coordinate with your papers and embellishments. They are my favorite touch to add to my projects! I’m so happy that I took the plunge and purchased some!
This card was created with this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch! Hop on over and see the fabulous cards my design teammates created with the very same sketch! Try your hand at making a card with this sketch and participate in the challenge! Be brave and enter your card in the challenge! I kept participating and the next thing I knew, I was invited to be a design team member. What have you got to lose?
