Make Pretty Fall Cards With Gently Falling

By | 09/18/2013

Stampin’ Up!s Gently Falling stamp set is one of my favorite sets.  You can make really pretty Fall cards with this two-step stamp set.  It has been nice and cool here the last couple of days and the humidity finally broke!  It was just perfect weather!  I felt inspired to create a card using the Sweater Weather Designer Paper because I actually had to search for a sweater this morning!

Gently Falling

I love two-step stamp sets.  They give you more bang for your buck.  It’s like getting 3 sets of stamps.  You get an outline stamp of each image, which you can see on the background of my cards today.  You also get the solid image of each stamp set.  This is harder to see here because I used a tone-on-tone effect to create my colorful leaves.  You can use the solid image with the outline image stamped over the top, or you can use the two separately depending on the look you want.  That’s a lot of stamping options from just one stamp set.

I took a close up image of one of the cards that I created for you today because I used the shimmer mist spray to give it some sparkle.  It looks so pretty in person, but I find it hard to photograph the cards so that you can appreciate the extra touch this adds to a card.  It’s sparkle without the glitter mess!

Gently Falling Shimmer

This card looks far more complicated than it is!

Card Details:

Papers and Inks:  Sweater Weather Designer Paper, Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, Sahara Sand and Crushed Curry

Stamp Sets:  Gently Falling and Harvest of Thanks

Accessories:  Linen Thread, Shimmer Mist, Big Shot, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Rhinestones

I created a second card with a few slightly different touches!

Gently Falling

How pretty is this card?!  When I used the Sahara Sand card stock, I didn’t expect to like the card to be honest.  It’s not as dark and dull as I expected once I added the orange and yellow.  For this card, I also clustered the background images and used the border edge punch to add detail to the card stock mat behind the dsp.  Plus…I love the double bow with the antique brad.

I visit your blog often because you do that so well .  And I usually learn something about a stamp set or a technique .   Your blog is a treat !!
