Stampin’ Up!s new Swallowtail stamp make the perfect image to practice all of our stamping techniques! I created 6 different cards using a different technique on each card using only the Swallowtail image stamp and a few sentiments.
I’m having trouble deciding on which card is my favorite, but I think this one is it. It was so simple and it looks complicated! I used three ink colors and applied them directly from the ink pad onto the stamp right next to each other. I used Pool Party, Summer Starfruit and Elegant Eggplant. I trimmed down the image to 4 x 4″ and snailed it to a Summer Starfruit card cut at 5-1/2 x 11″, scored at 4-1/4″. I stamped a sentiment from Loving Thoughts (#125845) in Elegant Eggplant right on to the card base.
I made a video for each technique. I will share 3 cards today and the next 3 tomorrow.
The second technique is one of my favorites! Emboss Resist! I sponged on color after embossing the image. I think this is a very simple technique as well!
For this card, I used Soft Suede and Whisper White card stock. I embossed the Swallowtail (# 129216) image using white embossing powder (#109132). Once that was heated, I sponged on More Mustard and Soft Suede in. I used the Beautiful Birthday stamp (#125562) cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits ( #127003) on my Big Shot (#113439). This was also embossed and sponged. I went a little heavy on the sponging with the sentiment. It needs more white space and more More Mustard!!!
Here is the video of this card:
My third technique comes straight from the Spring Mini Catalog! They pictured this card and gave the technique! I had to have this stamp as soon as I say the card. It is so pretty in person!!!!
Love this! I embossed this with the new Pool Party embossing powder (#129321). I heat set it with my heat tool (#129053). I then used my Aqua Painters ( #103954) and painted the Champagne Shimmer Mist (#116806) over the top and the heated it again to dry the paint. This is stamped on Summer Starfruit and mounted on to a Crumb Cake Card base. I used a sentiment from the Loving Thoughts set, which is also embossed in Pool Party. Pretty!
Here is another shot of the card itself:
Come back tomorrow to see the other 3 cards that I created. I use my aqua painters again and I do some watercoloring. I also have a super simple, yet fabulous card just for beginners!!!
