I have 10 card layouts that I’ve created to use on days that I just want to make simple, yet beautiful cards. I wanted to share the first sketch with you along with the 6 cards I made with this layout.
I shared my original card that I created for a challenge on social media the other day. I was challenged to create a simple card.
I used the new With You in Mind stamp set and the Serene Love DSP. I used an old tag punch to create the tag element. I really like the way this came out, so I created the card sketch from it.
I wanted to use the sketch for more cards, so I decided to challenge myself to use more punches and to try variations of the same sketch.
Instead of a tag or banner for the focal piece, I used the new To the Point Punch to create my focal point with the same paper packs and stamp set.
I added some fish tails under the focal piece with some left-over Night of Navy card stock. This is very simple, but it is the same basic design. A simple, yet elegant card.
Again, same DSP and stamp set, same basic layout. I used the Modern Oval Punch and a scrap of Night of Navy to help it pop off the background.
Instead of DSP, I used a piece of Night of Navy and embossed it with the Star Struck embossing folder. It is really pretty and I’m so disappointed that you can’t see the gorgeous texture this created on the card. I used the same stamp set, but created my own background with the Pretty in Pink flowers and the Night of Navy sentiment stamped on top.
The embossing folder is one of the Sale-A-Bration FREE items you can select with a purchase of $60 through the end of February.
This card used the same paper, but I used the Day to Celebrate FREE Sale-A-Bration stamp set to create my tag. I also turned the sketch 90 degrees!! I also gave the tag a little tilt.
You can see that I did add some twine bows of some of the cards and I also added some of the FREE Sale-A-Bration Purple Sequins to several of the cards as well!
I kept my color scheme to Night of Navy, Pretty in Pink, and Old Olive for all my cards as well.
For my last card, I challenged myself to create a single layer card. I masked of the edges of the card and stamped the flowers in Pretty in Pink, the leafy stems in Old Olive, and the sentiment in Night of Navy. I removed the masking tape and then covered my stamped portion. I used a blender brush to add nice borders in Night of Navy.
Once again you see a few of those FREE sequins!
I love this card! It’s a fun challenge to take a card sketch and turn it into a single layer card using only the card base, a stamp set, and 3 ink colors. My technique also required the masking tape and a blender brush. I love the end result!
I spent a couple of hours making a pile of simple, yet beautiful cards that I will be proud to give to friends and family. I LOVE this hobby!
