The Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge is still going strong!  We have a great new sketch to play with this month and we would love for you to play along with us!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

This sketch looked so challenging to me when I first saw it.  There are so many layers and details. It just felt busy.  I’ve gotta tell you…I LOVE the card I made!!

The key for me was to figure out which layer I wanted to use patterned paper for and then to actually select the patterned paper I wanted to use.  From there, it really all fell into place.

Choosing the paper helped me with my color scheme. That allowed me to pull coordinating card stocks out.  Then I knew which stamp set I wanted to use and I pulled some dies out to give me the leafy bits…it all just fell into place.

Here is my card:

Can you see that fabulous patterned paper?  This is the Woven Textured DSP. Once I decided on that, I pulled out Pecan Pie and Early Espresso card stock.  Then I realized that I wanted to use a Very Vanilla card base and top panel.

The natural feel of the paper inspired me to pull out the Elements of Text stamp set.  I stamped the circular text piece in Crumb Cake ink, along with some of the splatter images from the set.

Then I pulled out Wild Wheat and Mossy Meadow.  I used these to create my leafy bits.  I pulled out the Thoughtful Wishes stamp and die set and the Memorable Blooms dies to create the leafy bits.

I knew I was going to add some Linen Thread, but I also wanted to add a subtle pop of color with some ribbon and a small floral die from the Thoughtful Wishes die set.  I pulled out the Petal Pink Scalloped Ribbon and card stock for that.

My sentiment is from the Memorable Blooms stamp set.  I stamped it in Early Espresso onto Very Vanilla.  I cut that into a banner shape and inked the edges with some Crumb Cake ink.  I finished the card off with some Neutral Matte Dots.

One decision at a time and my card was finished!! I ended up loving all the choices that I made for the final card.

Card Recipe:

Card Base: 4-1/4 x 11″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″

Early Espresso Layer: cut at 4-1/8 x 5-3/8″

Pecan Pie Layer: cut at 4 x 5-1/4″

Very Vanilla Layer: 3-1/2 x 4-3/4″

Patterned Paper Layer: 1-1/2 x 4-1/4″

The size of my layers was another decision that I had to make.  I pulled out my Layering Guide and used that to play around with different sized layers.

I LOVE this tool.  I made this for myself and found it so useful that I made one for each of my downline as well.  I store it in a stamp case and I made an insert for the stamp case as well.  You can print the instructions for free below!
