Cards for Guys

Today is a good day to do a card challenge!

I’m creating a masculine card and the theme is Christmas Critters.

I will confess that my stash is woefully short on Christmas Critters this year.  I found one stamp that has 2 deer, so I’m hoping that is enough.  Since it’s after Christmas, I tried not to make the card too holiday oriented, but still cheerful.

I’m entering this in the Cardz 4 Guys Challenge for December-January.

I have two tiny deer in my little wintery scene.  This is one of the scenes from the Winter Scenes stamp set from Stampin’ Up! I like these little scenes for masculine cards.  I always stamp them in StazOn ink and then add some watercolor pencil color to the scenes.  I used a Balmy Blue for the sky, Old Olive for the trees, and Fresh Freesia for the snow.

I also added some Cherry Cobbler mats behind my focal image and the linen DSP.

My sentiment is from the A Little Cheer stamp set and it is stamped in Memento Black ink.

The challenge is open until January 18th.

I’m working on participating in more challenges this year.  My Work of the Year is Challenge.  I’m hoping to post more on my blog and on YouTube and it seems like participating in challenges will get me creating on a more regular basis.

Plus, a good challenge theme or sketch can really push you to try new techniques and new layouts.  I think it’s inspiring to see what other people have created as well.  I also find myself pulling out stamp sets that I haven’t used enough and I love that!

The more I use my craft supplies, the more I get my money’s worth!  It’s just more satisfying!!\
