DIY Valentines: Create 2 Adorable Cards With The Sweet Bear Scrappy Tails Stamp Set

By | 01/12/2021

Scrappy Tails Crafts hit it out of the park with the January release!  They had numerous fabulous stamp sets and die sets.  It was very hard to select what I wanted to play with from this release.

You know how it is!  You want it all!!

I selected the adorable Sweet Bear stamp set because I thought it would not only be cute for Valentine’s Day, but that little bear and the balloons could be used for birthdays and other celebrations as well.

I created two Valentines to share with you today.  The set does come with a coordinating die set, but there were other stamp sets that I wanted more than the coordinating die set!!

You can see why I fell in love with this set!  That bear is so adorable and the balloons are just plain fun!  The stamp set has numerous sentiments that can go inside the balloons like the little candy hearts we always see on Valentine’s Day.  I truly love that sentiment that I stamped on the card with the balloons.  It’s a perfect sentiment any time of the year.

I have a video tutorial below for you so you can see the masking technique and the easy way I colored in the images.

The masking technique was used to create this card for my mother. I wanted something colorful and this sentiment is fantastic. The teacher in me really loves that perfect script type of this sentiment along with the wonderfully loving message that it sends.

My original plan was to stamp a row of the balloons across the card above the sentiment, but then when I started playing with them I went with a cluster of balloons that are overlapping…hence the need to mask the balloons and get the stacked look.

I used bright and bold colors for the balloons and I’m really happy with the end result.  It feels balanced and it’s happy.  I have no doubt that my Mom will appreciate the colors and the sentiment on this card.

Card 2:

I just had to use the adorable bear and one of the heart candy sentiments inside the balloon to send to my daughter.  She had a teddy bear that went with her everywhere for years. It was a gift from my students when I was pregnant.  They threw me a baby shower and gave me the teddy bear that my daughter slept with and took on her travels.  That bear has traveled to other countries!  It has been to Princeton and the University of Michigan.  It now has two Bachelor’s degrees, a Master’s degree and a PhD.  And Teddy has been cherished!

I also kept this card clean and simple and I love the end result of this one too.

You can see that I cut both stamped panels down to 4 x 5-1/4″ and layered them on to a nice red mat cut at 4-1/8 x 5-3/8″. The card base is a white piece cut at 4-1/4 x 11″ and it has been scored and folded at 5-1/2″.

No dies required for these cards!  Just some relaxing coloring with  my Copics!  You could use your favorite coloring medium and paper to create really fun cards with this stamp and die set.
