**Update: CTS #279 Challenge Winner**
I’ve been looking for an excuse to use Altenew’s Mega Greetings stamp set. I decided to create a card to enter into a couple of challenges.
I couldn’t resist the CAS on Friday challenge #136 Splash-Watercolor!
It is definitely Clean and Simple with a splash of watercolor!
I’m also entering it in the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #279:
Card details:
I used some Arches Watercolor paper that is 140 lb cold pressed paper. For my watercoloring, I selected two of my go to Altenew inks: Warm Sunshine and Tide Blue. I used a wet-on-wet watercolor technique by adding some water with a 3/4″ flat brush from Craft Smart and then adding my ink by smooshing my ink pads on to my craft mat and spritzing them with water. I used the same brush to add big sweeps of the watered down ink being careful to blend them together to get a pretty green in between.
Isn’t that sentiment fabulous? This is Altenew’s Mega Greeting stamp set. There is also a mega thanks and several small sentiments to work with both of the large scripts. I love this. It was quick and easy to complete.
I attached the small white embossed sentiment with foam tape and added the mat to a black card base with foam tape as well. I finished it off with some iridescent sequins from Neat & Tangled from their Like Magic mix.
I used my MISTI to add the hello sentiment. I inked it several times to get a nice crisp image on the watercolor paper. I then went over it to fill in the spaces that just didn’t get inked on the textured watercolor paper. I used my Altenew Black Artist Marker and filled in the image.
All in all, it was a fun quick card to make. I love adding a splash of watercolor to create a great background for a card. I like to have some white space around the watercolor splash and I love a bold black image stamped over the top. I just love that contrast. Paired with a tiny peek of black card base around 3 of the edges and it really pops that giant sentiment.
**UPDATE!**
A big thank you to the design team for selecting my card. I am honored!!
Oh, I love this! Fabulous take on the sketch!
Thank you so much!
