Mid-December Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge…A Classic Layout

By | 12/15/2025

I consider this week’s Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge to be a classic card layout.  It’s a great go-to design when you aren’t sure what you want to do.  This sketch works for so many stamp sets!

You can use this layout in either landscape or vertically.  I love using it when I have a floral or a seasonal icon.  Here is my card for this challenge:

Once again, I pulled out the Ornamental Christmas stamp set.  I stamped the tall tree several times using second and third generation stamping with Old Olive and Mossy Meadow ink.  I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black ink.  The patterned paper is some left over paper from last year’s Reindeer Christmas papers.  I paired it with some Cherry Cobbler card stock mats behind my focal image and DSP.  I love using a layout like this with my scraps of card stock and DSP.

I had a little left over red Baker’s Twine from a Paper Pumpkin kit and it worked perfectly to add a bow to the sentiment tag.  I pulled out a die from last Christmas to create just the right sized tag for this sentiment.  This is one of the Greetings of the Season dies.  I’ve continued to use this die set all year.  It’s one of my favorites for sentiments and tags.

This was a simple card layout.  Here is the recipe:

  • Card Base: White cut at 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″
  • Cherry Cobbler: 3-7/8 x 5-1/8″, 3-1/4″ square
  • DSP: 3-3/4 x 5″
  • White card stock for focal image: 3″ Square
  • White scrap for sentiment: 3/4 x 4-1/2″
  • Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Black ink
  • Red twine
  • Traditional Sparkling Sequins in gold
  • Dimensionals and liquid glue

We would love to have you join us for the challenge this week or just go check it out.  The design team and the participants all come up with very different ways to use this sketch.  You’ll get lots of ideas!
