Something Old, Something New YouTube Hop: Gardens and Bugs Theme

By | 09/06/2025

Welcome to the Something Old, Something New YouTube Hop.  This month’s theme is Gardens and Bugs.

The challenge is to use some new products and to shop your stash for something you haven’t used yet or maybe haven’t used enough.  Use your stash and get creative!

This hop has a different theme each month and it takes place on the first Saturday of each month.  Anyone with a card making YouTube channel is welcome to play along with us and add your video to the hop!  You can check out the Card Making YouTubers Facebook group to join.

Thank you to Annette Hopkins for organizing these monthly hops.

My project focuses on using a new stamp set called Artistic Leaves and the new Sunflower 3D embossing folder from Stampin’ Up!

I put up a video a few months ago about embossing folder inking techniques that is full of ideas.  Today, I’m going to play with just two of those techniques.  I am ink swiping and dauber coloring on the debossed side of the embossing folder image!

I have 4 cards to share showing this gorgeous technique.

I did an ink swiping technique to color the debossed background of the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up!  Then I used the sponge dauber technique to add color to the debossed sunflowers and leaves. I used Cajun Craze for the background and Crushed Curry, Pecan Pie, and Mossy Meadow for the floral bits.

I used the new Artistic Leaves stamp set for the sentiment.

My old products included the Natural Polka Dot ribbon, my punches, and the Classic Matte Dots embellishments.  It’s nice to pull items you still love from your stash and use them with some of the new current items you own.

I then tried the background using Blackberry Bliss and I fell in love!  I also did the Matchbook Fold card style and added a strip of the Country Woods paper from my stash.

Dimensions:

Card Base: 4-1/4 x 11″, score at 4-1/2 and 5-1/2.  Glue the 1″ portion of the card front to the inside back of the card base.

Embossed Panel: 4-1/2 x 4-1/2″

DSP: 1 x 4-1/4″

I made two more variations of the Blackberry Bliss card:

The Many Thanks sentiment came from the new Gathering Moments stamp set.
