I was happy to see the Stampin’ Up! selection for the March Best of 25 Years Stamp Set. I love the stamps in the set. I especially love the silhouette of the sunflowers that they used. It was one of my favorite stamp sets called “Upsy Daisy” when it originally came out, so stamping with it again feels like stamping with an old friend.
Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card today. I used the Upsy Daisy stamp that matches the image from the Best of March set and stamped it in black. The new version of the stamp is a smaller version of the original Upsy Daisy. I also used a sentiment from my favorite sentiment set, Loving Thoughts (#125845). I used only Very Vanilla and Basic Black card stock. I left only a 1/8″ space around the edge of each paper. I finished the card off with black taffeta ribbon and petite butterflies (punch #129406) topped off with tiny pearls (#119247).
There are actually 5 card stock layers on this card, each 1/8″ smaller than the one it rests on. I think that layers add such an elegant touch to a card. I definitely feel that a sympathy card requires an elegant feel. I always find it amazing how pretty a card made with only two colors can be as well. You really don’t need a ton of supplies to get started stamping. You need a good sentiment set like Loving Thoughts, that is filled with a wide variety of sentiments that work for almost any occasion.
The Best of 25 Years March stamp set just came out. Don’t forget that if you purchase 6 of the sets over the course of the year, you get a free stamp set ($14.95 value). There is a sticker in the stamp set on the image sticker sheet that is a 25. It’s tiny so don’t throw it out. You have to save those to send in to receive the free set. This needs to be redeemed by March 2014.
