Altenew has done it again!
They have come out with the Winter Wonderland Watercolor Brush Set of 10 colors that are just gorgeous.
I swatched them out to see what they look like:
This is the same mixed media swatch book that I’ve been putting all my watercolors and marker swatches into. It’s been so handy to have when I’m working and I want to select a color. I can actually see what it looks like on paper and I can keep the notebook open in front of me for a handy reference as I work.
If you have never used a watercolor brush, it is essentially a watercolor brush or aqua brush with watercolor dye ink in it instead of water. You can color directly on to your watercolor paper and then use a water brush or wet paint brush to pull the color out into your image or you can add the color to a clear block or your craft mat and then use a wet brush to pick up the color and add it to your project.
I like them because I feel like I have some control over them, although it does take some practice.
This is a pretty set of colors. I was excited to see the brown and the black in this set. I was also happily surprised to see a metallic silver. After watching a video from Creativation 2019, it seems that Altenew is coming out with a metallic pan set of paints sometime soon and several more ink pad colors. I was pretty happy to see those new products on their shelf!! I can’t wait until they are available.
There was only one overlap between this set and the set that they released in the fall. Both sets of watercolor brushes included Emerald. Personally, it is one of my favorite colors so I wasn’t unhappy to get a second one of those. It is a gorgeous dark green and Altenew has so many floral stamps that I don’t think you can actually have too many greens!

I got some news this evening that I was excited about! I reached one of the crafting goals that I set for myself in late December for 2019: I got invited to participate on a design team for the Atlantic Hearts Challenge Blog! I’ve been on the Paper Craft Crew Design Team since 2013 and I’m exited to add another design team to my list! I’m looking forward to getting to know the other design team members and I’m looking forward to some new challenges! I’m enjoying the Paper Craft Crew design team and I am looking forward to continuing that as well!
I’m going to check that off my list!
Thank you for stopping by! Happy day!
Congrats Kim! So happy for you.
Thank you Anita!
