3 Must See Must See Easy Techniques for Great Card Backgrounds

How long has it been since you’ve done a new technique that you’ve never done before?

I just found a new technique that I’ve never seen before!3 Ink Techniques for great card backgrounds

Another demonstrator, Linda Dalke from Australia, shared a card she made on the Demonstrator Planning Place Facebook group.  Demonstrators from all over the world share their stuff there to help inspire other demonstrators.  This is a Stampin’ Up! Facebook Group just for demonstrators.  I learned a new technique from Linda that I love! I’m linking her blog here in case you want to see what else she is up to. I watched the video she linked under her post and fell in love.  I’ve sort of cased her card here below.

Linda used her little Stampin’ Spots ink pads and the negative part of a die cut.  This is the part we usually throw away!  She used the negative part of the die cut like a mask, covering most of her paper. Then she swiped her ink cubes across the opening in several directions.  She used 3 colors or so and kept swiping until she felt that the image was full.  I loved the end result.

I say that I sort of CASED her card.  I only have 4 colors of Stampin’ Spots from the latest Paper Pumpkin Kits with me here in Florida.  My collection is actually in storage in New York!  I also had a few Distress Ink Cubes from a virtual workshop that I did a few years ago.  That’s what I used for this card!  I also was limited to the colors that I had, so I tried a couple different combinations.

Linda pulled out her Elements of Text stamp and completed her card.  I decided to keep the CASEing going and use that same set.  I stamped mine in Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie.  I added a sentiment from the Simply Said stamp set.  The card is finished off in Neutral Matte Dots and Baker’s Twine.  The mat layer is Blueberry Bushel card stock.

You can do this with any shape.  I’ll be playing with this some more today and I will share my results in my Stamping Imperfection Facebook Group.

I also saw a reel on Instagram that someone shared showing how they used the ink cubes and a marker to create gift images to create a card.  I had to try that too!

Super cute and very easy!  I used the bullet end of my black Stampin’ Write Marker to add the ribbon and bow.  The splatter is from the Elements of Text stamp set and the sentiment is from Simply Said.  I used Petunia Pop card stock for an added layer. I also used a sneak peek Starburst Sequin set to add some embellishments.  These will be coming out in March as an online exclusive from Stampin’ Up!

Finally, I played with the Painter’s Tape technique.  I haven’t done this in a fair bit of time, so I decided to pair it with these two techniques in a video.
