Who else loves to make card sets? How great is it when you can sit down with 6 sheets of paper and one set of stamps and get 4 matching cards in less than 30 minutes?
I have to admit, that this is the first time I’ve used this pattern of Designer Series Paper from the free Sycamore Street Sale-A-Bration set. I love the pattern on the back! It’s purple shaded dots and it’s fabulous. This is Summer Starfruit that looks like old wallpaper. Enough said. I considered the use of this paper to be a personal challenge.
I wasn’t quite sure what colors to pair with this wallpaper. I mean Designer Series Paper. I tried Real Red at first because that was suggested in the Color Coach. Usually, the Color Coach never fails me, but I just couldn’t use any more red for a while. I felt like I used red for months between Christmas and Valentine’s Day!
I took a peek at the other papers in this pack and realized that the paper designer had paired the Summer Starfruit with Pool Party, Island Indigo and a shot of Tangerine Tango for a pretty burst of color. Well now…that means that I can use my Sycamore Street Ribbons too! If a paper designer thinks those colors should go together, who am I to argue?!
I chose to use Vintage Verses for today. This is another one of the free stamp set choices you have with Sale-A-Bration and the product number is #129636. I love this set. I love the mix of fonts that they use. I think this set is fabulous for the chalkboard technique that is all the rage. (Virtual Club members…this is our featured technique this month!!! I love this technique!!!)
I stamped all 4 images in Early Espresso. I cut two pieces of Whisper White card stock in half and scored and folded it to create 4 cards. I then cut my mats from the DSP wallpaper paper (4 x 5-1/4″) and attached them to my card bases. I added a piece of Tangerine Tango Ribbon across the center of each. I used my Labels Collection Framelits (#125598) and my Apothecary Accents Framelits (#127003) to create layers for my sentiments. I added pearls on the ribbon as my final touch!
I really like the final card set. I think the shape of the framelits really matches the design in the patterned paper. I love the pop of color the Tangerine Tango added and the deep color of the Island Indigo really is a great combination. I also love that the ribbon, the designer series paper and the stamp set for this set of cards were all FREE! Free is good.
I now have a set of cards I can use as a gift for someone special. I have enough of the DSP to create a band to put around the cards and envelopes to hold them together. I could also put them in a cello bag and create a pretty tag with the leftover paper and ribbon. We always need a quick gift for those people in our lives that do special things for us!
