Make The Cards Challenge 5: A Color Challenge

The Make The Cards Challenge for this week is a color challenge!

 

I just got a new order from Sassy & Crafty Stamps and I was very excited to use one of the new stamps from the February release!

I love my Chucks!  I always wanted a pair of these sneakers when I was a kid and my mother said they were boy shoes and got me a pair of Keds.  I do also love my Keds, but I finally got a pair of Chucks about 2 years ago and I wear them every single day.  Real women do wear Chucks!

I think you will see why I had to have the Spring In Your Step stamp set from Sassy & Crafty!

I used some Catherine Pooler inks to watercolor this fabulous pair of sneakers!  I used Rockin’ Red, Suede Shoes, Orange Twist, Twilight, and Black Jack inks.  I smooshed them onto my Ranger mixed media mat, spritzed them with water and used a paintbrush to add the color to my image.

I did start by heat embossing image in black just to make this quick and easy to watercolor.  I always feel like I’m cheating when I heat emboss, but I like the final result when I’m done.  I also used a piece of watercolor paper cut at 3-3/4 x 5″.

I added a panel of nice orange cardstock from Cardstock Warehouse’s Autumn variety pack cut at 4 x 5-1/4″.  This was added to a card base cut at 4-1/4 x 11″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″.
