I’ve used the Assorted Christmas Leaves Dies, which I always call the Winter Essentials Dies…I will be using this set all fall and winter, so be prepared to get lots more ideas from me!!!
I have also played with the Hot Foil Christmas Sentiments die set. I’m new to hot foiling and this is only the second time I’ve played with it. I decided to splurge on the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System when there was a big sale ($50 off!) over the July 4th weekend. Sabrina (the owner and designer of Scrappy Tails Crafts) was about to release some pretty fabulous Hot Foil dies and I wanted to give it a try!
It’s remarkably easy to use this system. It came with a bunch of thermal foils. I’ve used a pretty red one on the sentiment on my cards today.
This first card is just a traditional use of the die cuts. I simply die cut out the two pine boughs and pinecone pieces and added them to my card.
I did the foiling first and then added my die cuts and put the layers together. Crown jewel gems finish off my card.
The second card is a less than traditional way to use your dies. I’ve shared this a few times before because it is a favorite technique of mine.
I die cut my pieces out of craft foam and glued the foam to some cardboard and used it like a stamp. I got the watercolor look by inking up the foam stamp I created and then spritzing it 3 times with water.
The pine cones made a bit of a blob, so I covered those with some extra die cuts that I had created. I’ve added Nuvo Red drops to finish off my card.
That hot foil Christmas Sentiment Set comes with 3 different sentiments. I justified the pricey purchase because the sentiments are timeless and I will use these for my cards for many years to come. I can change the foil color and the stamp or dies that I pair it with so that my Christmas cards will look fresh each year. I will get a lot of mileage out of these sentiments!
Plus the sentiment on that first card will work all year long!
