Ink Smooshed and Splattered Background: 3 for 1 project

By | 09/16/2022

I created a fun card and two tags today by playing with the smooshing and splattering ink techniques!

Ink Techniques for Backgrounds

I used 7 shades of green from my Maker Forte Color Hive inks to create this background today.  I also used the Maker Forte Holly Berry stamp set.

I started by doing some ink smooshing onto my glass mat.  I spritz my smooshed ink with water and then run my paper through it.  I dry each layer with a heat tool before adding the next layer so that they layers don’t mix together.  I wanted one color to sit on top of the other.

I stamped the holly and berry images in the Eclipse Black ink and then I added color from my ink pads with a wet paint brush.

When I created my card, I added 5 strips of red cut to 1/4 x 4-1/4″ to give myself a place to anchor the focal image and the sentiment.  I really like how this helped pop that holly and berry piece right off the card.  It really stands out with that red behind it!

I used my white Snow Flurries reinker to add some splatter to the final card, holly and all.  Some Nuvo drops finished off my card.

I made two holiday tags with the second panel I created!  These are always handy to have around during the holidays.
