Finding Inspiration by CASEing Cards and Sketches

By | 01/23/2025

Have you ever had a day where you just needed a little help to get your creativity started?

Every now and then I have those.  Sometimes I am also looking for a challenge that will get my creative ideas flowing.

One of the ways I find inspiration is by CASEing a card!  CASEing means to Copy and Share Everything.  In general, I like to do my own thing. I don’t always love to CASE a card because then it doesn’t feel like mine.  However, I do have a couple of card makers whose work I’ve admired for a long time.  One of them is a former Artisan Design Team member by the name of Connie Collins.

A few years ago, I saw the most gorgeous card that Connie made, and I saved it my “IDEAS” folder.  When I was leafing through the package of Mixed Media Florals DSP, one of the papers reminded me of the card.  I decided to recreate the card!

I love this card!  That paper is just gorgeous.  I used the Mixed Media Florals DSP, the Mixed Labels stamp and die set, the Spotlight on Nature dies, and the Memorable Blooms stamp and die set.  The sentiment is from the Simply Said stamp set.

The card also has dimensionals behind the florals and the sentiment banner.

As soon as I made this card, I pulled out the two other floral papers and created 4 more cards.  I also pulled out the card sketch page from the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog and selected a couple of sketches that were outside of my comfort zone to create with as well.

The sketch for this card is outside my comfort zone because I’m in the habit of placing the top layer in the center of the card base giving it an equal border on all sides.  I really do like this layout!

For this one, I used the Mixed Labels dies and a 1-1/2″ circle punch to create the sentiment.  My Stampin’ Blends worded beautifully for coloring in the Memorable Blooms florals as well.

I had made a couple of extra die cuts on my first card, so I decided to use them on this card.  The only extra tool I pulled out for this was my Happy Labels tag builder punch to make the ends of the Flirty Flamingo strip a little bit fancier!

I flipped one of the floral papers to use the fabulous black dash paper as a backdrop for the pretty floral pattern I placed on top of it.  Again, I used the Mixed Labels dies and a sketch from the Annual Catalog.  I used some of the scraps I had left from the first three cards to create the last two cards.

This card is made from scraps and one of the sentiment labels from the Celebrate Love Ephemera pack.  This was a super simple card.  I wanted to use the scraps on my desk while I had all the supplies out and I was in the mode!  I’m happy I did that.  This card turned out cute!
