Here is how I know when I’ve had a good day crafting:
My craft mat is covered in ink!
Yesterday I settled in to make some place cards for our Christmas dinner.
I pulled out my left-over package of Thoughtful Journey DSP. I always find it hard to use an entire package of 6 x 6″ DSP. I’ve made two sets of cards with these papers, and I still have a lot of paper left.
It’s gorgeous paper, so I don’t want it to just sit on my shelf. I love the watercolor effect of the papers, and I thought it might work well for some little Christmas scenes.
I started with the Woodland Scenery and Seasonal Tags stamp sets. I pulled a couple stamps from each set to use in my scenes.
I stamped the little pine trees in Mossy Meadow, then I stamped the bare tree trunks in Early Espresso, the deer are stamped in Pecan Pie, the snowflakes in Pool Party, and the stars in Daffodil Delight.
I added some white splatter and some white sponged craft ink all around for a snowy feel. I trimmed all the pieces to 3-1/2 x 3-3/4″. I like the way they all came out. They feel like wintery scenes!
I then decided to cut some of the papers down to 3 x4″ and use the Golden Greenery stamp set that came out last Christmas to create some scenes.
I loved the first one I made, so I decided to make a few more. I used Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Cherry Cobbler, and White Craft inks for this.
The bells were stamped in Smokey Slate and Basic Grey. I really liked how this set came out as well! I just need to write in the names and mount the cards on a background card stock to complete them.
For a DIY Place Card holder, I found some inspiration from Vicky Barone’s blog:
I love this idea and I think it will work for both sizes of place cards that I’ve created. Plus, I have red ribbon. I just need to run to the dollar store and get candy canes!
Here is one more look at all my place cards:
I’m feeling good about what I’ve made here. I used some papers that I love from my stash, one older stamp set, and one newer stamp set. I always love to keep using my consumables until they are gone. It also makes me feel like I’m getting my money’s worth out of a stamp set when I’m still creating with it over a year after I purchased it! Not everything we make needs to use new stuff. The stuff in our stash still works!
You can find stamping supplies in my Stampin’ Up! store at ShopWithKim.net.
Or…you can do what I love to do…shop your stash!
Now I’m off to the dollar store to get those candy canes to finish this holiday decor project!
Happy creating!
