This week’s Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge is perfect for using those small Designer Series Paper scraps I know you have on your craft table! My table is currently covered with paper scraps!!
I had to pull out the scraps I have from the Lovely Blossoms Virtual Card Retreat that I took with Stampin’ Up! a couple of weeks ago. I absolutely adored the class and there was a ton of left over product from the retreat.
The floral image is from the Lovely Arrangements stamp and die set that coordinates with the paper. The sentiment is from Paradise Garden stamp set that was included with the retreat products in the kit. This is my all time favorite sentiment to send on a card! What better reason to send someone a card than to with them a lovely day?!
I added a little color to the floral using my Stampin’ Blends in Petal Pink to coordinate with the papers. I also did my stamping in Secret Sea ink to coordinate with the paper as well.
I added some white twine and white enamel dots from the Moody Palette Glossy Dots that coordinate with the Lovely Blossoms suite of products.
Tips for lining up paper pieces:
I always have trouble lining up the little bits of paper no matter how perfectly I cut the papers. This time, even though the sketch shows white space between the paper pieces, I pushed the pieces together and I have perfect alignement!
I learned that from a couple of the other design team members on the AHSC team and a previous sketch with small pieces. I was so frustrated trying to line things up and get just the right amount of space between pieces…no frustration this time! They line up perfectly when you push them together.
If you really want that white space between them, you can fake it with tiny strips of white card stock layered over the top where the spaces would be. You can also fake those lines with a white gel pen and a good ruler.
Just sayin’! Sometimes faking the look works better that fighting with perfect space and alingnment!
