This week’s Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge used this sketch:
I decided to pull out my Flower Fair background stamp again and do the spotlight technique to color in only the parts where the florals are featured in the sketch.
I really love this stamp set. I have so many ideas for using it. You can use the entire stamped image or just parts of it.
This technique allows me to use the entire stamped image, but I only highlight a portion of it.
I used a portion of this same stamp two weeks ago on my blog. Again, I have used Hydrangea Hue, Daffodil Delight, Peaceful Pine, and Barely Blush Stampin’ Blends. I also used Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends to add some detail to the sentiment sticker from the Say Something Mix and Match Ephemera set. I added some color to the edges of the “ribbon” holding the sentiment. I then used a journaling pen to outline the ribbon and fill in the white letters of the sentiment. This really made the entire piece pop, and it gave it some dimension.
I used Calypso Coral card stock, the retired Deckled Rectangle dies to cut all my pieces, some Linen Thread to add texture behind my sentiment, and finally some Golden Glow embellishments from the 2026-28 In Color Enamel Dots.
Additionally, you can see some white gel pen details on the florals as well.
You can find the sketch challenge at the link at the top of this blog post. We would love to have you join us. It’s always fun to see what other crafters create with the same sketch and the supplies that they have on hand!
