Technique: Faux Letterpress

By | 02/04/2018

Part of the Clean and Simple Boutique card class that I’m taking involved a faux letterpress technique.

This one takes a lot of practice with your die cutting machine.  Every machine is different and requires a different “sandwich” of mats and plates to get an image to impress without cracking the paper.

I’ve been experimenting with different layers on my machine and I think I finally got it!

Of course, I don’t have the card made, but I’ve got the good bit done!

The top one is the impression that I was finally happy with.  The ink is beautiful.  It is a pigment ink from Tsukneko called Delicata Pink Shimmer.  It is so pretty up close.  You can actually see the shimmer on the back of the die I made for this technique.

I will be creating videos soon and this is one of the techniques I will share.  It involves creating a shim of what you’d like to make an impression of and then figuring out what mats and plates you need to use on your machine to make it work!

I’ll finish this card and share it with you tomorrow.  Here is another closer view of what it looks like.  I’m not sure that you can see that it actually impressed the word into my card stock.

I can’t wait to finish this card!  I’ve created 5 other cards for my final project for this class that I’m taking.  This will be the 5th.  I have one more project to create and then I will share all of them with you!

I can’t wait to share the cards with you tomorrow.  How will I stand getting through work when all I want to do is spend time in my craft room?!

I’ve spent most of my weekend organizing my retired stamp sets.  I essentially took 4 big shelves of stamp sets and consolidated them onto one shelf.  I really like my new stamp organization system.  It is really working well for me and I almost have it complete enough to share with you.

I have so many things to share!!  You know how it is!  You feel like you are surrounded by chaos and obligations and then all the sudden after keeping your head down and plugging away at the chores, you suddenly see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I keep telling myself that in two weeks, I’ll have time to take a breath and start making some videos to share all the stuff I’ve been learning and doing with you.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I have a special card to share with you tomorrow.  I am this week’s Guest Designer on the What Will You Stamp Challenge blog and I can’t wait for you to see the adorable card I created with this week’s challenge stamp set!!!

It may be the cutest card I’ve ever made!  Make sure you stop by tomorrow and let me know what you think!

Thank you for dropping by today.  I hope that you have had time to putter in your craft space!  Remember to embrace the imperfections!
