I got the new Hedgehog Hollow September card kit and it is another fabulous kit. This is one of my favorites.
The kit had 3 stamp sets, a full size Catherine Pooler ink pad, some cardstock and an envelope. (And candy of course!) Plus, as a regular subscriber I received the Marvy Brush Tip Pastel markers. What a fantastic bonus just for being a regular subscriber!
Today was the first day of school, so I decided to make a quick single layer card. There are no die cuts or layers of card stock, even for the sentiments. This is just one layer of cardstock and it is all done with marker and ink.
I gave it dimension using a drop shadow technique.
I hope when you see it, it looks like I used card stock to create the sentiment strip and the large script word…but I didn’t.
I loved this image and could not resist pulling it out of the box and coloring those florals! Then that fabulous Bloom! That is stamped in Altenew’s Dusk ink and the florals are all done with Altenew’s Artist Markers.
I’ve done a drop shadow in the lightest gray and I really like this technique.
The subsentiment or secondary sentiment is white heat embossed on a black strip of ink. I created a place to put my sentiment by using my black artist marker to create a black strip. No card stock needed!
Those sequins are my Studio Katia iridescent sequins. LOVE them!
I also added some white gel pen touches to the flower centers and called it a day on the card. I’m going to send this to a former student who just started her career as a teacher today. I think this will be perfect for her!
Thank you for stopping by today! Happy crafting!

Hello Kim! This card is beautiful. Love the flowers and the colors used. How do you create the drop shadow? Is this technique in one of your previous video posts? And…. this card really does look like you used layers. Job beyond well done. Good luck with school this year!
Thank you so much, Anita! I will make a drop shadow video as soon as I get a new camera tomorrow! It’s so simple and has a big impact. Thank you for stopping by!
