A New Year, A New Calendar

By | 01/01/2018

One of my favorite things about the new year is the start of a new calendar!  Who doesn’t love cracking open that new calendar and recording upcoming events?

My daughter created a calendar for her desk this week using the Hero Arts Calendar Stamp Kit.  I purchased this kit to use it in my 2018 planner, but it came with card stock, ink and a calendar stand.  It was a perfect craft for her to do while she was home visiting for the week.  It will also be a pretty addition to her desk that is totally functional!

She used a combination of the Hero Arts kit, new and retired Stampin’ Up! stamps and papers for decoration.  She also used the Stampin’ Up! embossing powders in my stash to add fun color and shine to each month.  It’s nice to have a stash of stamp sets, papers and inks that you can dig into when you want to create a fun little project like this.  She was able to pull from quite a few old Stampin’ Up! stamp sets to get the little images for each month.

Here are the first 8 months.  How colorful and fun is this?  The calendar kit was perfect for creating the small, desk size calendar and the card stock and designer series paper just make it fun for each month of the year.  So many stamp sets have small images that are perfect for little projects like this.  You can create the entire year at once like Katie did or you can create one month at a time as you  need them.

The small images and the days are embossed.  The months are stamped in coordinating colors. Keeping those leftover designer papers really allowed her to have a nice selection of papers to choose from for her project.

How pretty is that April paper?  That is a sneak peek from the Occasions Catalog that will go live on January 3!!  It’s Picture Perfect!

You can see some of the current, soon to be retired designer papers that she used for the end of the year.

I love how it turned out and I have no doubt that it will make her smile every time she looks at it!  I know that it will be functional.  I always have a small calendar sitting on my desks and I use them constantly.

Here is a picture of the calendar kit from Hero Arts:

Calendar stamp sets usually have the days of the week and the months, along with some little fun monthly stamps.  I like that this has the date stamps that can be adjusted for any month.  This stamp set will certainly serve me well for years!

Here is a link to a 2018 Calendar that you can cut apart with your trimmer.

This is from Creative Commons so you can modify it.  I suggest printing it on card stock and then trimming it apart with your trimmer for a nice tidy look on sturdy paper.  You’ll be happier with the end result.

I usually create my own calendar to share with you using my old MDS program, but alas, it is not working!  This calendar is from a Google Search using Creative Commons.  This was created by Anna Frodesiak and is made available on the Public Domain for our use:

So thank you to Anna and Creative Commons!

Thank you for stopping by today.  Happy New Year!
