Time for another sketch challenge on the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog!
This is another challenging sketch for me. I don’t typically use small strips of paper as a focal point on my cards.
I pulled out the A Little Latte DSP and found a piece that I liked the pattern on both sides. I cut a 4″ strip if the paper. I cut down one piece to 4 x 5-1/2″ the cut 3/4″ strips from the other piece.
I attached the front of the paper to a piece of Early Espresso that I cut at 4-1/8 x 5-3/8″ with liquid glue. I then splattered it with white ink and let it dry.
The 3/4″ strips then got torn into 3 pieces each. I made sure both ends of each piece was a torn end. I adhered these strips to my card panel and wrapped it in Linen Thread. Then I attached it to a Lost Lagoon card base with dimensionals.
I stamped a sentiment from the Latte Love stamp set in Lost Lagoon and die cut it out with a label die from the Something Fancy dies. I also die cut a scrap of Early Espresso with the same die and cut it in half and adhered it to the back of the stamped sentiment label piece. I popped that up on dimensionals and added it to the card front.
Six Neutral Matte Dots finished my card!
Not bad for a sketch I was skeptical about! I love doing sketch challenges for this very reason! It pushes me outside my comfort zone to try new layouts. This is a great sketch for all those scraps of patterned paper and card stock you have!!
