This week’s Atlantic Heart Sketch Challenge is a challenging landscape card with some interesting details!
I thought about pulling out my scallop punch and using some scrap strips of DSP to make the details for this layout, but then I realized I had some ribbon that would be perfect for the scallop detail on this card.
This gave me the opportunity to use some of the ribbons in my stash and to layer them together in a fun way!
I love this Old Olive Specialty Rickrack! It actually has a scallop on both sides. I layered a Secret Sea Faux Linen Ribbon over the left scallop and added the white ribbon over the seam between the two. A little linen thread on top with a bow finished off that fun scallop layered detail on the side of the card.
I kept my focal image very simply by using two of the 3 x 4″ cut apart cards from the Lovely Blossoms DSP. I trimmed down the floral card and fussy cut around the top leaf. Then I trimmed down the Old Olive patterned card to just peek around the edge of the floral card.
I added a simple sentiment in Secret Sea from the Lovely Arrangements stamp set directly on to the top floral card. I added a few white enamel dots to finish off the card.
I’m so happy with the end result!!
You will notice that the only change I made to the sketch was to straighten out the focal image instead of placing it at an angle. If felt more balanced to me by keeping it parallel to the sides of the card.
