Card Making Made Easy: Start with a Card Recipe or Sketch

By | 07/11/2024

I have several relaxing hobbies that I pursue daily.  Card making and scrapbooking are two of those, as is crochet.

All three of my crafty passions are easy hobbies for any person to pick up and excel at.

Card making should be an easy and relaxing hobby.  We are adding stamped images, sentiments, and pretty papers that actual artists designed.

One way to make easy is to have the right tools to work with.  One of those tools is a set of card sketches that you can easily browse through to get inspired when making a card.

I have a sketchbook full of card layouts that I’ve been adding to for over 10 years.  I finally decided to digitize them and create a Card Recipe Sketchbook that has all the measurements, so I don’t have to do any math when all I want to do is create.  I converted 24 of my sketches to a digital file so that I could create a product that I can share with other when I’m done.  Now I am working my way through those card recipes and creating card samples for each one to add to the file.

Today I want to share sketch number 2 with you. I will share sketch number one later in the week!

For each card recipe that I have made so far, I have created a card front sample that includes the measurements for my file album.  I can browse through my little album to select a layout for the card I want to create.  What a great starting point!  You easily have a layout plan with measurements to get started.

Let’s get started on today’s cards!
