This month’s scrapbook Challenge YOUrself challenge is to create a page about what helps you find balance in your life.
I found it very challenging to keep a balance in my life while I was working and raising kids. I don’t think I ever really mastered making enough time for me. I used to get up before 5 AM every morning to exercise. For many years I did step aerobics, then I switched to using a Nordic Track, and then I ran a couple of miles every morning for almost 10 years. Now I walk and ride my bike every day. I also do a bit of Yoga to maintain flexibility and balance as I get older. I don’t want to be one of those women who sits in a chair all day and just gets too stiff to move and take care of myself.
One thing that I have always found that puts everything into perspective for me is to spend time with my family. That is what my layout this month is about!
I am using a Journals For Life traveler’s notebook with some of the kit pieces, along with some Studio Calico supplies and some scrapbook supplies I cut down to use in traveler’s notebook layouts.
I’ve been taking the Studio Calico Summer of Sketches classes for the last 2 or 3 summers and I really enjoy all the inspiration I get. It’s nice to see how other people use sketches. Plus I end up getting at least 60 traveler’s notebook layout sketches from the class by the end of summer!
Here I documented the mini golf game I played with my son and my husband the afternoon before the start of our daughter’s wedding celebrations. She was busy with her college and high school girlfriends who planned a day of activities with her to celebrate before the wedding. She ended up with jury duty and had to cancel the original plans they made for a bachelorette weekend a couple of months ago.
We all ended up have a relaxing day doing something fun with people we love and enjoy! How better to find balance in life?
I used two photos from our day. I made sure to take some selfies so that I ended up in some of the pictures I knew I would be scrapping this month. Remember that this challenge requires YOU to be in a photo on your layout.
I pulled out some ephemera dies that I got in the two kits that I subscribe to for traveler’s notebooks. I also had some old papers that I punched and cut apart to create my own die cuts for using in my travelers notebooks. I pulled out a sketch that I thought would work and created a layout with the supplies in front of me. I really like the circular element on the sketch that I had, so I included that in my layout.
I have also been making sure that I do some stamping in all my layouts. It’s an element that I love when I see it in someone else’s layout. Plus…using my stamps for scrapbooking makes me feel like I’m really getting my money’s worth out of the supplies that I spent my hard earned money on!
