I’m really excited to be participating in this week’s CAS(E) this Sketch challenge as a guest designer. I won one of the challenges last fall and they invited me to participate is the sketch for this week.
I decided to create a watercolor piece for this card using Altenew’s watercolor brush markers. They just came out with their second set of 12 and I can’t wait until the new colors get here!
I used the Altenew Birthday Greetings stamp set for the sentiment, the Dearest Friend for the florals, and the Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers to create this card.
The images are stamped in Altenew’s Embossing ink and white embossing powder on Canson XL Watercolor paper. I’ve layered it on to a piece of light gray card stock for the base of the card. The final touch includes clear drops from Studio Katia and the sentiment embossed in white on black card stock.
Here is the sketch from the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #305:
You can see that I added the floral image to the border element and added my sentiment on top of that. I also added a watercolor wash and some splatters to create a background for interest as well.
I really love watercoloring and I really love experimenting with all different watercolor mediums.
I love the randomness of watercolor and the way the water mixes the colors. I also love that I can’t control it that much. My husband calls it messy, but I just love the watercolor look!
I used the Altenew colors of Warm Sunshine, Autumn Blaze, Moss, Limeade, Evening Gray, and Dusk. The card base is cut at 4-1/4 x 11″ and scored at 5-1/2″. The watercolor panel is cut at 4 x 5-1/4″.
I’ve created a video to share the details of the card:
