This week’s Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge is a nice clean and simple layout. I peeked at the cards the other design team members made and realized that they all used patterned backgrounds.
I’ve been skimping on the backgrounds lately, favoring some simple and quick splatters. (I’m practicing my technique.)
I also felt that this sketch would allow me to use a border stamp. I love border stamps and haven’t used one in a while.
Check out the sketch that I used to create my card:
I just got this Fluttering Friends stamp set and just adore this little bird. I used my Altenew Markers to color it in and then I popped it up on a punch that looked like a cloud. It’s an old Stampin’ Up! punch and I don’t even remember the name of it.
I haven’t used a punch in so long I had forgotten how fast it is to reach for a punch and have a little layer for your main image which I did fussy cut.
The sweet sentiment came with the Fluttering Friends stamp set, but the border is one of my older Catherine Pooler sets called Good Vibes Borders. This one reminded me almost of a birds footprints in the sand.
I added plenty of splatters…maybe I was a bit heavy handed on this set of splatters but I like the texture it adds to the card. The final touch is some light yellow Your Next Stamp enamel gumdrops for a bit of contrasting color.
Quick and fun!

Your visit it truly appreciated and I would love for you to leave a comment. Do you have a favorite go to border stamp? Do you use splatters of ink instead of a background sometimes?
Have a wonderful day!
I love this card! It is clean and simple as you stated but it is a HAPPY card. Thanks for sharing Kim.
