Check Out the Lights of Aurora Designer Series Paper

This week’s Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge gave me an opportunity to highlight one of the gorgeous new papers from the Lights of Aurora DSP set from Stampin’ Up!

When I was thinking about what I wanted to create with this sketch, I didn’t notice that all the rectangles were different lengths.  When I cut my paper, I loved how it looked when I pieced it back together, so I just forged ahead without checking the sketch before assembling my card.

I used the back of a piece of the Aurora paper on top of my Blackberry Bliss card base because I loved the color and how it coordinated with the spectacular pattern on the front of the paper.  This is one of the things I love about using double sided paper…you have two options of how to use it!

I cut my strips at 1 x 3.5″ and added a strip of Blackberry Bliss cut at 1-1/8 x 3.5/8″ under each.  Then I stacked them so they overlapped, but I kept the layers the same length as opposed to gradually shortening them.  I wanted my pattern to line up and I didn’t want to cut off any of this pretty paper!

I added the Hello ephemera sentiment from the Say Something ephemera set.  A couple of coordinating embellishments from the Lights of Aurora suite of products completed my card.

It wasn’t until I added my card to the design team linky that I realized the strips were supposed to be progressively shorter outward from the center.  I decided to leave my card as is, since it would really affect the pattern if I shortened the outer ones.  I really like the effect I ended up with even though I didn’t follow the sketch perfectly!

Thank you for stopping by!
