Creating Cards For What’s Bugging You

Too corny?

Single Layer Cards from Stamping Imperfection

My daughter will be telling me that my blog title for the day is too corny!

My goal lately has been to create clean and simple single layer cards without a lot of extras.

I would consider these cards to be clean and simple except I couldn’t settle on a color scheme and I pulled stamps from 5 stamp sets.  Not so simple if you’re using an entire shelf of stamp sets to create one single layer card…so I created three.

Here is my favorite:

Single Layer Cards from Stamping Imperfection

I’ve pulled stamps from all of the following stamp sets:

  • Stylized Birthday
  • Jars of Love
  • Grateful Bunch
  • Touches of Texture
  • Awesomely Artistic

I was looking for bugs!

My colors:

  • Early Espresso
  • Crumb Cake
  • Bermuda Bay
  • Crushed Curry
  • Black
  • Night of Navy
  • Marina Mist
  • Old Olive

I’ve simply used a whisper white card base either cut 4-1/4 x 11″ and scored at 5-1/2″ or 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″.  There is either Thick white or bermuda bay baker’s twine or linen thread on each card.

While I will confess to using a ridiculous number of stamp sets and colors, I did want to show you that you can make a great card (or 3) from just one card layer.  You don’t need to own every color of card stock and ink.  A few simple selections and a couple of stamp sets and you can make a huge variety of cards that you will be proud to give to friends and family.

Stylized Birthday

I do want to point out that fabulous Happy Birthday sentiment.  That is a single stamp “set”.  It only comes in wood mount and it is such a great addition to your stamp set stash.  There is nothing like a big fabulous sentiment.  I’ve used it in a whimsical way here, but imagine it embossed in white or black on a more elegant card.

Wouldn’t it also be fabulous stamped on the card front with nothing else at all?  It’s that great!

I challenge you to try to make single layer cards without too much “stuff” on your card.  See what you can come up with!

Thank you so much for visiting!

Yes and there is definitely a fine line between just enough and too much!
